Why don't people use "past prime" more often? Like I said the term "shot" is said too loosely around here.

Cotto shot? Debatable. Past prime? Most likely.
Margarito shot? Debatable. Past prime? Most likely.

Roy Jones shot? YES. I don't think anyone will argue with you on that one.

Would you put Cotto/Margarito in the same boat as Jones Jr?

pac should take the test. so should Steroidgio Martinez.

like floyd said, fighters don't just become great all of a sudden. name 1 fighter who instantly became GREAT at 35 years old like Steroidgio Martinez did.

        i'll wait...

        psyche.

ain't waiting cuz you know damn well you can't name one.

uhhh helloooo because it's an internet messageboard and the posters who do that have acne, have no girlfriends, and are tremendously out of shape. it makes them feel better about themselves to trash a fighter who puts their lives on the line each and every time they step into the ring.

Back to the original subject, I don't think Margarito is really shot. He might have slowed down a bit but he never was a fast defensive wizard. He was a tough hard punching relentless warrior and that he still is.

However one of the interesting about the Cotto rematch is that it is a way to see what both these guys have left. Both have alot to prove.

My point was that Mosley went from shot, to great #1 WW, to shot again in the span of a year. I think people need to relax a little and widen their perspective to more than their last fight or two before writing someone off.

Sometimes, such as in Roy Jones' case it's clear as day, but for the other 95% of boxers it's not so obvious.

Then again, the term "shot" is subjective so in the end it just comes down to people's opinions.
