Why do people say that margarito is shot?

uhhh ok but antonio margarito doesn't log onto messageboards saying your last post ****** therefore you are "shot" as a poster and maybe you should retire.

You know, I agree with you, with maybe the exception of punch output (from what I remember it seemed to be a fair bit lower).

If that version of Margs shows up in December I think he has a great shot of stopping Cotto again.

I didn't see his comeback fight with Garcia but to me he didn't look like a shot fighter against Pac, just completely outmatched. You want the definition of a shot fighter, check out Ali-Holmes or the last handful of Roy Jones Jr. fights. As the OP stated a most of Margs' best attribues were still apparent, not so for the examples I mentioned.

I think people throw the term "shot" too loosely around here, lets look at Shane Mosley as an example. He struggled against Mayorga for 11.95 rounds, was proclaimed shot by many, then out of nowhere thrashed Margarito and he was suddenly great again leading up to the fight with Mayweather. He loses a lopsided decision to Floyd, draws with Mora, and somewhere in that time period he's shot again.

1.it isn't just his last fight, it's been his last 3 fights
2.He gets paid Millions of dollars to fight it isn't comparable to an online poster.
3.He's lost 2/3 of his last 3 fights 1 by KO. the other broke his orbital bone.
4.Being shot isn't disrespect.
5.Martinez kicks his ass in a rematch and you know it

What fighter do you know who gets beat by Antonio Margarito, gets a draw against Kermit Cintron, loses to Paul Williams who we now know sucks...etc. etc. and all of a sudden at 35 years old becomes "GREAT".

Name 1 single fighter in the history of boxing besides Steroidgio Martinez who all of a sudden became "GREAT" at 35 years old.
