Miguel Cotto's best performance was?

Yea it was impressive no doubt, but you notice how now 5 years later that fight has become like a massacre win for Cotto and Quintana just went in there and got blown out...Cotto didn't look great for a lot of that fight.

I went with the Mosley fight because I didn't really think it was all that close. Cotto looked so sharp for most of the fight and towards the end the cut from the Judah fight opened up and he began to coast....then he still came back at and looked great at the end of the 10th and won the 11th. That was a clear victory to me against an elite opponent where the scores aren't really indicative of how in control Cotto was for most of that fight.

Yea I just recently watched the Quintana fight and it was pretty competitive. People act like it was the Gomez fight or something.

I watched the Cotto/Mosley fight last night and was pretty impressed. The more I see of Cotto's old fights, the more I am convinced that fans got robbed out of a Maweather/Cotto fight. It really should have been made.

I find myself wondering how the Pacquiao fight would have gone if Cotto had gone in there with a different mentality. I think he had the idea that because Pac was smaller he could exchange with him and bully him around. He wasn't as defensive as he could have been. He would just stand there when Pac started throwing combos hoping to throw counters, when he should have move a little and kept using his jab.

It seems Mosley always had a problem with overhand rights and guys who used angles a lot. Same against Floyd, who hurt him a couple times with these overhand rights thrown from angles.

...and Cotto's right hand isn't really his money shot, but I think that fight proved he was a better boxer than people made him out to be. But yea, Mosley's always had trouble with boxers of that nature.

I kind of agree, cotto should have been trying to win round by round like Mosley fight, but he didn't have as much respect for pacquiao power so went in there with the mindset he was the bigger stronger man and tried to do damage rather than use his natural skills. 2 things to consider though...cotto never looked the same after the marg fight, and also Shane never fought at the type of pace that pac fights at, which is cotto's Achilles heal.

I do agree that we were indeed robbed of a mayweather-cotto fight, competitive fight in my opinion, that jab and those body punches, and cotto's all round skill set would have kept mayweather honest.

Watch Cotto destroy Alfonso Gomez. Cotto was treating that like a sparring session and just demolished him. I'm not saying it was his best performance, but it was fun to watch him just outclass the living hell out of someone.

That's what I'm talking about...believe it or not, Cotto made Gomez look like pure garbage that fight.

The fight itself wasn't that significant...but what cotto did do was made it look THAT easy.

I think it was the fight with Carlos Quintana, personally.

Cotto's stock had dipped following his close encounters against Ricardo Torres and Demarcus Corley, while Quintana had come out of nowhere to beat Joel Julio on HBO.

It became fashionable at the time to pick Quintana - the established welterweight - over Cotto, who was stepping up in weight.

Cotto absolutely destroyed Quintana, really relegated him to opponent status for awhile until he finally showed that southpaws are Paul Williams' kryptonite.

I don't know man, Cotto landed some bombs on Margarito. Margarito took them better or at least wasn't as effected as Mosley, but some of those shots Cotto landed on margarito might've put someone like Berto or Ortiz in the hospital.

Check out what Cotto was still landing around round 10 or 11 see 6:19. Margarito is only a chin without that we wouldn't be talking about him.

Idk man, the thing with the Margarito fight was that he was always moving backwards. Some of the punches looked good but he never had his weight into his punches like he did against Mosley. He hit Mosley SO clean, over and over again in the middle of the ring.

Cotto has fought a lot of good guys but I am going to say agains't Mosley and I am not just saying that cuz I won 200 hundred bucks on it. Okay because I did win 200 bucks on it and they asked him if he wanted to fight Mayweather and he said ask his promoter he will fight anybody they put in front of him he didn't say no that's why this guy gets a lot of love because he fought everybody out there.

Wow. I hadn't seen that fight. The more of Cotto's old fights I see, the more I like him.

In this fight he showed a TON of heart, but I still think that Cotto's best demonstration of skill and talent was against Margarito--he really came close to greatness in that fight. Considering how tough Margarito was and the amount of pressure he was under, I think he did very well. Watch the fight again and notice how fast some of his combos are. I'm not saying they're the best, but they are some of his fastest punches. It just seems like he put it all together really well in the Margarito fight.

I still haven't seen the Quintana fight though, and There are other fights I need to see before I can say for sure. Right now, I'll say the Margarito fight.

That is one thing that made me a Cotto fan to begin with. When he was at 140 and several times at 147 he got rocked severely, but had very quick recovery time, and would come back to administer a severe beating to his opponent. I think him beating Mosley was right up near the top.
