    Miguel Cotto's best performance was?

What was Cotto's best performance? I've seen about 7-8 of his fights, and I think that his best performance was against Margarito, aside from the fact that he lost obviously lost. Before you guys post and complain about the fact that Cotto didn't win, just think about how he was boxing prior to getting hurt.

He looked faster than I've ever seen him at welterweight, was throwing very accurate punches and combos, moving on his feet very well under TREMENDOUS pressure, and was winning the fight handily before he got stunned in the seventh. If Margarito's body shots hadn't been so effective, Cotto wouldn't have tired as much and would have won that fight.

What do you guys think? If I'm not taking into account another fight, let me know.

I think it was the fight with Carlos Quintana, personally.

Cotto's stock had dipped following his close encounters against Ricardo Torres and Demarcus Corley, while Quintana had come out of nowhere to beat Joel Julio on HBO.

It became fashionable at the time to pick Quintana - the established welterweight - over Cotto, who was stepping up in weight.

Cotto absolutely destroyed Quintana, really relegated him to opponent status for awhile until he finally showed that southpaws are Paul Williams' kryptonite.

Both fights where he avenged his losses in the amateur against Pinto and Abdullaev(sp?) deserve a mention. But, IMO the Quintana fight was his best performance.

He just disfigured Quintana face. It was an utter destruction against a rated WW.

In this fight he showed a TON of heart, but I still think that Cotto's best demonstration of skill and talent was against Margarito--he really came close to greatness in that fight. Considering how tough Margarito was and the amount of pressure he was under, I think he did very well. Watch the fight again and notice how fast some of his combos are. I'm not saying they're the best, but they are some of his fastest punches. It just seems like he put it all together really well in the Margarito fight.

I still haven't seen the Quintana fight though, and There are other fights I need to see before I can say for sure. Right now, I'll say the Margarito fight.

I just finished watching that fight and two things stand out: his timing in round one and his switch hitting in round five. In round 5 you could almost hear him out-thinking Quintana. Damn good performance, but I don't know if I'm sold.

Watch Cotto/Margarito round 5 and tell me what you think.

Watch Cotto destroy Alfonso Gomez. Cotto was treating that like a sparring session and just demolished him. I'm not saying it was his best performance, but it was fun to watch him just outclass the living hell out of someone.
