  • Opinion of Khan based on region of UK one lives in?

I was curious about this because I live up north in lancashire and a lot of people around here are not keen on him because of his race. Generally around this parts a lot of white people do not like asian people. It is rife in these parts and I was quite shocked when I discovered this when I first moved to the north from the south. I was wandering if people from other regions of the UK could tell me what the generally feeling about him as a fighter is in their region?

I'm from the North East where there are far less ethnic ********** compared to anywhere else in the country and he's my favourite fighter.

He also sold out an arena up here against Salita

I live in Bolton, most of my friends and people I know hate him with a passion, leading up to the Judah fight a lot of status's said stuff like " Hope that p*ki gets knocked out ", these are all white of course and know nothing about boxing or Amir himself, they say he is arrogant and ****y, as soon as Prescott knocked him out they said he was never that good, just a hype job ... It does my head in to be honest, they need a slap.

Obviously all the ******s and pakistanis love him and I'm sure a few white people do, including myself, hes my favourite fighter.

If you looked on twitter the night of the fight there were two types of tweets-

1.Asians - Come on Amir! Knock him out....
          2. Whites (not all)- Hope that **** gets knocked out...

Here's my take. I'm from Leicester which, as people living in England probably know, is the city which has the largest proportion of citizens coming from ethnic **********. I can understand why some people dislike ******s as SOME of them isolate themselves from the rest of society and make it seem as if they are victims. I am white and am a huge fan of KHAN. He is a down to earth kind of guy and, although he is religious, he doesn't make too much of it and doesn't isolate himself. People who don't like Khan based on race are ridiculous - he isn't an extremist and is a good fighter. He is one of my favorites after Pacquiao, Froch and Hopkins.

I have a field day with it, I'm always posting HL videos and status's about him on facebook to wind them up, shame really that half the population wont recognise him as one of the best fighters out of Britain because of his race and religion. If you ask a racist white person why they hate Pakistanis or foreigners in general, you'll usually get a reply like " they take our jobs, get loads of benefits, don't respect our country ", which in some cases is true, but Amir Khan was born here, gets punched in the face for his money and wears the British flag on his shorts, what more do they want?

The problem is a lot of Brits tar all ******s with the same brush. Islamophobia is largely based on those who isolate themselves from society and make themselves victims and who only integrate with those belonging to their religion. Khan is down to earth and never disrespects anyone. He is a great upcoming fighter and race should have nothing to do with who people support. He is as British as Hatton to me.

I recently spent 2 weeks in England around the Liverpool area after being in Canada for 8 years. I saw people staring at ********** when they saw them, I was pretty shocked at how people see and speak of other races.

Khan is one of my favorite fighters, down to earth, hardworking and respectful. I couldn't care less what race/colour you are or what your religious beliefs are.
