I am not sure if marquez has the chin to withstand Pacquaio at this stage of his career. But I gotta give Marquez his props, he is not going to run and I see it being a very entertaining fight. The Mayweather fight was a very bad matchup for JMM in terms of style because of Mayweathers defensive nature. I am rooting for JMM, because he's a solid warrior and underdog this fight.

I agree. I don't think he will win at this point in his career. If he can somehow take Pacquiao's power and stay out of range and counter and pick his spots wisely he has a slim chance. I think also that the type of fighters that pac has fought lately might be to Marquez's advantage. He hasn't fought a truly good boxer in a while, mostly come forward fighters who didn't respect pacs punching power. Only Mosley respected pacs power and he respected it a little too much lol now I know pac has a great chin but most of the fighters he fought caught him with single shots. I wonder how pac will react to Marquez's trademark combinations. I know he has a great chin but he is still only flesh and blood.

Agreed. I think it has more to do with the balance of his body than anything. Most of his weight is in his upper body. To be honest I wouldn't mind if pac knocks Marquez down at least one.... All it seems to do is pi$$ Marquez off and make him fight harder lol

This fight would be more exciting at 140. I even think Manny fights better at that weight. But of course, there's nothing in that division for either fighter (belt, that is).

That's where you're wrong. I don't think that Pacquiao is hitting harder. Not really. I think that Pacquiao's advantage is that he has the energy to overwhelm for 12 rounds.

The keys to Marquez beating Pacquiao are:

1) Not letting Pacquiao dictate the pace. This will be almost certainly be Marquez' undoing. Marquez has to first box him and then hurt Pacquiao to earn his respect. Pacquiao has to believe that Marquez has something that will make him think twice about leaping in and out.

2) Marquez has to pick his spots. If Marquez brawls .. and even if he has success doing so ... he has to change it up. He can't fall into thinking that Pacquiao won't find away around a solitary approach.

3) Marquez CANNOT take rounds off. Not just because Manny stays busy, but if Marquez lets this fight go to the cards he can be sure he loses. Arum will grease all the right palms before he let's his golden goose lose any steam ... or money for that matter.

4) Marquez has to hit Manny and make Manny chase him. If he can continuously do this, Manny will be playing catch up. Playing catch up leads to recklessness, which leaves openings.


5) Marquez must do what Ray Leonard did to Hagler: He must make sure that he looks good to the judges. Especially at the end of the rounds. Even if he is hitting arms and shoulders he's got to look like he's bringing it.

I have no doubt that Marquez could pull these keys off, but its unlikely as it goes against the Mexican way of pride fighting.
