Chavez Jr. needs to man up and take on Martinez. Is he not a mandatory challenger for his belt?

You can actually kill 2 birds with one stone in a Pirog fight. You would unify and stay busy at the same time.
But, no. Pirog is not worthy and I quote Dibella "fuck Pirog" and this is pretty much the sentiments that "boxing fans" have on the matter. Which is quite laughable but it's whatever. Lets enjoy the Darren Barker massacre.
Initially, I thought that Pirog was way too green, and he likely is.
But hell, if he wants it that bad, then give the kid his shot.
IMO, that fight is a little silly when you compare the step that Pirog will take, with the step that guys like Canelo and Chavez would be crazy to take..... but, it is what it is, and it is refreshing to see a young fighter only want to fight the best.
I cant argue with you, but I think that in terms of maximising his career, there are better options out there for Pirog.

I'm sure Martinez is not afraid to fight anyone at this point but wants to see a big payday soon. In my opinion. I believe he should keep fighting solid, regarded guys who want to fight and build up his name continually because none of these big name fighters will ight him unless his name is major. Sergio Martinez in his last 4 fights has impressed like no one else in the sport. There have been many upsets this year and I love that for the sport of boxing. Boxers/fighters are not fighting the best because the promoters don't want to risk losing to a good fighter but will eventual lose to an underdog and look like crap while doing it. Boxing needs to get back to what it was but doesn't look like it will happen as long as these promoters continue to try to cash in on fighters that haven't even proved anything in the sport and keep their top guys winning to capitalize off of their fame and momentum without risking their resumes.

Yet, when you have millions, it seems as if there is never enough millions to go around. I figured with so many advances in technology today, we could really make the best match ups WORLDWIDE. But like a few have already stated, it's not about the quality of opposition, it's about the money. Sergio has less than 1000 more followers on Twitter than Quillin. That's pathetic considering the amount of media coverage he receives and the fact that he has a global Latino FOLLOWING. Real boxing fans want to see real fighters fight!
Would have been against Cintron but they stole that win from him that night and Diabella should have been fired for letting that go down without a fight but favoritism was on the side of Cintron because he had a better name in the sport. I feel Diabella needs to hire some real good PR guys for Sergio, teach him english and get him in some films or commercials. Dude got personality and looks. Diabella needs to do what he can because ain't no promoter trying to lose to no other company these days. I think Golden Boy would put one of their fighters in with Martinez before Top Rank would though.

After that, I noticed that the promoters and their fighters started thinking and worrying about making big money. It wasn't always like that for them and I think these young fighters should be able to recognize that and the promoters should be able to respect that fact and continue to make the best fights for their clients instead of trying to cash in on them each time. Sergio Martinez been around for a while but he didn't start shining till after that first fight with Williams.

Three opponents were short-listed..... Marquez, Mosley, Berto.
Marquez is a lightweight, and Mosley was clearly shot and should not have been ranked in the top 5..... so why did Pacquiao pick Mosley over Berto ?
And, explain this..... " Victor Ortiz is too green "

hes called out Floyd and Pac. he's called out Jr., he pretty much has the middleweight division on lock, and guys like this want to **** all over him and force him to fight Ward or Bute tomorrow. give me a break. i like having a champion reign at his best weight. whats wrong with that?

Sergio is good for boxing, he is a good boxer but what i dont like is what he and his team keeps on spewing and belittling other fighters like they are some kind of cash cow.... dont say quillin who? and then get offended by other fighters by saying sergio who?...
