The "undefeated" John Murray who was "the next Ricky Hatton" with the "longest undefeated streak in british boxing" we were told had a cast iron chin that can absorb massive punishment, Massive punching power, and the stamina and high work rate to go the distance and win decisions! Ha what a joke!

Murray should go get a job at McDonalds, He has been a British hypejob since 2005. First he was hyped by Hennessy then Warren and was forced down everyones throat.

Im just glad he was knocked out because everyone was sick of hearing about John Murray.

Why are you putting 'undefeated' and 'longest undefeated streak in British boxing' in quotations? Are you implying he wasn't undefeated? I don't get it.

And I've seen no hype surrounding this guy. John Murray is a very, very limited fighter and has been outboxed on several occasions at British level, why would anyone tout him as the next big thing?

I dont know what papers you read but I dont remember seeing much of John Murray in the ones I read. Nobody hyped him you fool, grow up.

I agree with all the comments appart from Khan not getting a line in the newspaper lol. Khan is one of the most popular fighters in UK, he's always in the news. Due to his popularity he gets more hate than other boxers. As for Murray he was never going to be world class, only a few believed it because he was hyped up by beating up local bums from the pub. I am glad though he got knocked out because he would say he wanted to fight Khan, rios etc but end up fighting some bum.

Im putting quotes around it to highlight the hype that he was given, Sky and ITV along with Frank Warren and Mick Hennessy been hyping this guy for years!

John Murray is a domestic level fighter that made the longest running undefeated record in British boxing, He did that being fed a string of journeyman like the famous Yousef Al Hamidi a Syrian political asylum seeker and full time ice cream van driver who outboxed him!

Murray hype then goes overboard and he couldnt even beat a domestic fighter coming off a loss who hadnt fought for 14 months and yet was calling out Rios and Khan. He was even touted as the next Ricky Hatton!

Why do the British always over hype their fighters? People like Mitchell and Murray get all the hype yet authentic world class fighters like Khan cant get a mention in a British newspaper because of his race!

And you exposed your absurd agenda by claiming that Khan can't get a mention in a British newspaper. Do you want to compare how many column inches have been dedicated to Khan and how many to Murray. Because whilst Khan is known by the vast majority of people in this country, let alone sports fans (and let alone boxing fans!) nobody outside of the hardcore has an idea who the hell Murray is.

as a side question, why is it that so many people from different countries take such an interest in our fighters, especially those that are at domestic level?
