He just got caught with a great punch. Another misconception with Williams is that the first Martinez fight was some kind of crazy robbery where Williams was dominated. It was a very close fight that I thought should have been a 1 point victory for Martinez or a draw.

Williams is slightly past his best but he isnt shot! This is pretty much the same fighter who fought Quintana 3 years ago. I have been watching this guy since the Matthyse fight and in every fight i have seen since then his defense has been horrible but his workrate and chin made up for it. Keep him away from slick southpaws and he will look like he did in the past.

williams had a hell of a chin. one of the best in boxing for years


now that it's been cracked we can certainly say that he is on the downside

he took the same left hand for 13 rounds against sergio
and then boom out he went.



personally there's nothing i'd like to see more than retirement for williams. i will always have a soft spot for the guy. he was a true warrior in there, and he was in some great fights.

i'm glad he and MR peterson were smart with the money they made
it's too bad he couldnt get out of the way of a left hand

I agree with u somewhat but I dont think his chin is gone to the extent most do. He took plenty of clean punches from Lara and never seemed to be really hurt.

It was somewhat frustrating to watch Williams in that fight. As tall as he is, all he has to do is lean back and use a little guile and Lara would have been easy.

Lar will had never being easy, he is a good technical boxer, young and in his prime, with a ton of amateur experience, not easy at all.

he aint shot, he just got exposed as a fighter that is a few levels below what he thought he was. if i was williams, id start eating some food!!!! he might do a bit better if he wasnt a skinny twig.
