That said, I don't judge Mayweather because he got caught by two punches. Mosley was the #1 WW for a reason. Floyd has been caught before by both Demarcus Corley and Zab Judah who sent him reeling waay before he ever fought Mosley.

Its boxing. If anything, the way Mayweather handled that situation IMO showed that he doesn't rely on defense to protect a glass jaw. He handled being rocked well. So well, in fact that he regrouped and came back to start winning the end of the 2nd round. That situation may have seemed to some as a decline, but when you're walking down your opponent, WTF do you expect to happen?

People criticized Floyd for boxing from a distance. When he walked Mosley down, who by the way is one of the biggest punchers at WW, he knew that he was taking a risk doing so. He knew the possibility of getting blasted was a reality. He got blasted. He got buckled. Then he turned it up.

I could say that because Mayweather didn't look like himself in his first fight with Castillio that he was falling off at that point.

Its just silly to say that a boxer is declining because he gets punched in a boxing match. The best of all time boxers have been knocked down. Roy Jones, in his prime was knocked down by Lou Del Valle. **** happens.

I bet you won't bet against him though. And that right there says it all. Mayweather will lose eventually if he stays around too long, but it all comes down to who defines what "too long" is.
I agree with a lot of what you said, and yes, fighters get old overnight but to say Mayweather has a glass jaw is wrong. A lot of fighters at 147 would've been out (or at least down) with the accuracy and force of Mosley's atomic right hand in the second round. The way Floyd teetered around he looked like Pepino Cuevas before getting smashed with the final right hand against Tommy Hearns. Mayweather stood his ground. There is no doubt that he was hurt, but he showed once again why he is hailed as a tremendous fighter.

I've said it numerous times before, Mayweather has always been most vulnerable in the early rounds in a fight.

Think back to fights with Judah, De la Hoya, Hatton, and Mosley...if there is a point where he has shown to have [some] difficulty or being uncomfortable, it has been in early rounds.

He got hit, but after that, Mayweather was on cruise control the entire night.

All that said, if Mayweather is anything he has shown to be in the past (or heck, if he's still 3/4 of his former self), he beats Ortiz.

I think, nevertheless, that despite favoring Mayweather in this fight, Ortiz is the most competitive opponent for Mayweather since De la Hoya way back in May 2007. He's young, he's explosive, he's fast...and he's Mexican.

And...Ortiz should come out to this:

I got floyd taking vic to school for twelve rounds. I really don't see a ko happening, but that doesn't mean floyd CAN'T ko vic. Money doesn't have heavy hands by any means, but he's super accurate. And getting punched in the face over and over again will wear u out, so a late ko is not out of the question.

Having said that vic is a very live dog in this one. We all know grandpa was a shell of his former self by the time floyd got to him, and shane damn near pulled a rabbit out his hat. If that version of shane can catch floyd flush, vic certainly has a shot. Now I don't see it happening, but hey, no one ever "see's" an upset happening, that's why it's an upset. Either way it should be a monster fight, it's gonna be the most intriguing fight of the year by far. Sorry pac jmm, but I've already seen that movie twice, I already know who wins in the end.

Floyd is the better boxer with the better ring generalship as well. He knows where he is at all times, and clearly the smarter fighter. Bull rushing him will only get ortiz countered as mayweathers timing is damn near perfect and he can throw every punch in the book efficiently. You are correct in your explanation "This is going to be a beating"... I know it, you know it, and mayweather knows it as well.

Now some will say, so mayweather is cherry picking... and the truth is that no one has his skill set in boxing so, I dont call it cherry picking when you are just plain better than everyone else technically anyway.

Anything can happen, but we shall see.

          GOOD ANALYSIS IMHO
Thanks,I expect to see a similar fight to that of May Mosley..Meaning May will be coming forward behind the jab, counting with the straight right(which is like a magnet to Ortiz face)and push Ortiz back all night...Ortiz has no shot imo,and if even one or two rds were competitive I would be surprised..

Boxingscene you have a typo: Its he does consider it a "Great fight"

            You guys have "doesn't"

Roach is familiar with Mayweather's next opponent and called the Ortiz bout a "great fight," saying the new champion is a different fighter as a welterweight.

That was a shyt a fight. What's worse and the irony of it all is knowing it was a disgrace yet Pac is now doing the same thing...

I rank moneymay as the best defensive fighter i have seen, he is the master of boxing, he has really shown whats the sweet science, i feel moneymay has been in too many less challengin opponents, he duck paul wiil, cotto, margacheato, for easier fights, i think this is gonna be another case of power punchin, big heart n balls, beat the boxer, ali vs fraizer, chavez vs taylor, duran vs leonard, cotto vs margarito, segura vs calderon, mayweather is human, hopefullu ortiz wins, ortiz can only win by ko or stoppage

And people wonder why pac/roach agreed to fighting De La Hoya at 147 but then making/forcing Cotto to cut weight for a ww championship fight, then only agreeing to fight JMM at WW...

                      Such a disgrace....
theres a big difference moron. he's talking about ortiz having to lose 20+ pounds to make weight :wank:

cotto only had to cut 1 pound off (to 145) of his normal official weigh-in of 146...if you go look at cotto official weigh-ins, its been at 146. but on fight nite, cottos weight was basiccally at his normal fight nite weight.

as for the JMM2 fight at 144, it will not be even close to what mayweather did against JMM...floydie boy talk about fair fight/even playing field...and guess what moron? your manlove floydie went into the official weigh-in over the agreed contract weight, smirking N smiling like WGAF!!!...im sure manny will honor the catchweight, unlike the "racist ranter/security guard&wife beater/i'll have my bodyguards beat you up" fl-omo-sapian.

why is it when marquez moved up to welterweight vs mayweather, people said the extra weight was too much. but when pac moved up to welterweight to fight delahoya/cotto, etc...noone mentioned weight as a disadvantage...now with marquez having to move up again, this time against pac, people continue to say that the weight will be too much for marquez...BUT YET marquez fights basically at the same fight nite weight as pac...whats the disadvantage? i dont get it
