I agree that fighters get old overnight. Amen to that. Just look at Roy Jones Jr after his fight with Ruiz.

That said, I don't judge Mayweather because he got caught by two punches. Mosley was the #1 WW for a reason. Floyd has been caught before by both Demarcus Corley and Zab Judah who sent him reeling waay before he ever fought Mosley.

Its boxing. If anything, the way Mayweather handled that situation IMO showed that he doesn't rely on defense to protect a glass jaw. He handled being rocked well. So well, in fact that he regrouped and came back to start winning the end of the 2nd round. That situation may have seemed to some as a decline, but when you're walking down your opponent, WTF do you expect to happen?

People criticized Floyd for boxing from a distance. When he walked Mosley down, who by the way is one of the biggest punchers at WW, he knew that he was taking a risk doing so. He knew the possibility of getting blasted was a reality. He got blasted. He got buckled. Then he turned it up.

I could say that because Mayweather didn't look like himself in his first fight with Castillio that he was falling off at that point.

Its just silly to say that a boxer is declining because he gets punched in a boxing match. The best of all time boxers have been knocked down. Roy Jones, in his prime was knocked down by Lou Del Valle. **** happens.

I bet you won't bet against him though. And that right there says it all. Mayweather will lose eventually if he stays around too long, but it all comes down to who defines what "too long" is.

      It is funny that.....

1.) Berto was short-listed to fight Pac, and was the best qualified of the three that were considered, because Marquez is a lightweight, and everyone could see that Shane was shot

2.) Ortiz beat Berto, and is now ranked as the third best welter on the planet

3.) Roach said that Vic gave Pac " some of the best sparring sessions you have ever seen in your life ".

And yet Bob Arum said that Ortiz is " too green ", and that Mike Jones is "nearly ready"

Roach had a point, that perfect check-hook is lethal, especially if you get caught coming in..... but I seriously doubt that Mayweather knocks Ortiz out.

When I watch Ortiz vs guys who pull the trigger, Ortiz looks weak.

Maidana has a chin, but Floyd has a better one.
Floyd won't get hit as much as Maidana and will connect more, even though he has less power, he can mentlaly kill Ortiz. Ortiz hates getting hit.
Ortiz is strong, but ue needs you in front of him. Berto has the worse footwork, in fact he stood on the roles and was vey stiff often. He didn't adjust his feet which let Ortiz go at him, but what is very clear is that Ortiz is always there to hit when he punches. That's how Peterson started to out of him.

Ortiz better work his damn defence or he is getting knocked out. He is very wild, has some speed and skills, but is definitely needing a lot of work.
Go and read the entire article again, and start from the top.

Who have you watched Ortiz fight at welter, when he looked " weak " ?

And, are you saying that Berto couldnt " pull the trigger " ?

Did you actually read the article ?

It is clearly obvious that Ortiz is much stronger now..... he has better conditioning, better stamina, and is a much better fighter at welter.

Did you even watch the Berto fight ?

He was killing himself to make weight at 140.

But to the Mayweather fans - the ones who probably began following the sport because of him - just know that their comes a time when a fighter loses an inch or two on his reflexes and the punch that used to whiz by him catches him square on the jaw. It's already starting to happen with Floyd and he's at that stage where it could go completely on any given Saturday.
I want a piece of Tamis' bet, but he is too hard-out for me yep good point, the natural loss of reflexes/speed and the loss of timing through inactivity gotta catch up sometime, and I dont know if Mayweather looked as sharp as usual in the Mosley fight.

              You guys could be right.

the guy's been away boxing for over a year, yet he signs to fight one of the most dangerous young champions out there and the main competition is still trying to discredit it. which sounds real idiotic considering they just fought a 39 year old, who they said prior to "their fight" was washed up and have signed to fight a 38 year old, who they've already fought twice, win or lose because he still has a fight pending. and he wants to talk about sparring sessions?......makes you think that's why their not fighting a young strong champion, because of the "great sparring sessions". the more they open their mouth the more feet they put in it.

Floyd has the capability to stop every opponent hes been in with, but hes just not that guy.
