Mayweather will knock this bum out or make him quit.

When I watch Ortiz vs guys who pull the trigger, Ortiz looks weak.

Maidana has a chin, but Floyd has a better one.
Floyd won't get hit as much as Maidana and will connect more, even though he has less power, he can mentlaly kill Ortiz. Ortiz hates getting hit.
Ortiz is strong, but ue needs you in front of him. Berto has the worse footwork, in fact he stood on the roles and was vey stiff often. He didn't adjust his feet which let Ortiz go at him, but what is very clear is that Ortiz is always there to hit when he punches. That's how Peterson started to out of him.

Ortiz better work his damn defence or he is getting knocked out. He is very wild, has some speed and skills, but is definitely needing a lot of work.

This fight wont be competitive. Vic has virtually no defense and will get picked apart, toyed with and stopped before the bell for the tenth.

Why is Freddie Roach talking about what Floyd can and cannot do? Roach has never trained Floyd. Roach doesn't know Floyd's strengths or weaknesses.

Why is Roach talking about either Floyd or Ortiz and not Manny or Juan Manuel?

          I'll tell you why.

First, it was a dig at Mayweather's competition. Freddie Roach has to keep the public thinking that WBC world champion is not credible opposition. If people begin to see that Mayweather always fights the best at the point when they are on top, it makes Pacquiao look bad.

So Freddie will say that Floyd can knock Victor Ortiz out despite real fans knowing that since Floyd came up in weight without Victor Conte's help, the power Floyd carried in his SFW days has diminished.

If Freddie Roach begins saying that "Floyd should knock him out" and makes it seem like a compliment, if Floyd fails to knock Ortiz out it will be looked upon as some sort of decline in Mayweather's skills. Roach hopes that Manny will knock out 37 year old Marquez so that he can then say "Well, Manny is knocking his guys out but Mayweather can't close the show."

Basically, its a backhanded compliment that meant to be taken as an expectation. The thing that Roach didn't count on was boxing fans waking up and beginning to use better judgment when weighing the quality of a win. Had Manny fought Marquez 3 years ago and beat him, the win would have been much more significant.

After this fight with Marquez, if Floyd dominates Ortiz or even worse stops him, Pacquiao will be in an even weaker position from which to make demands from. Floyd will be the WBC WW champion and the #1 P4P defending champion in boxing.

What will Pacquiao's claim to fame be afterwards? That he out-waited Marquez until he was ripe for the picking?

Roach knows that Pacquiao's pickings are very slim. I can't think of another fight that anyone would want to see other than if he were to face Paul Williams @147lbs. Possibly Tim Bradly.

Top Rank isn't going to tell the public that they are desperate in a press release. When Roach starts giving interviews saying this kind of **** and one realizes that there are no more than at best 2 matches worth selling for Pacquiao, it becomes clear that they have nowhere else to go. Arum says 5 more fights. Against who? Who will sell? Cintron? Who the fcuk has he beat? Who would pay to see that fight?

Its getting down to the wire folks.

I love how everyone expects Floyd walking breezingly past thru Ortiz, as if the man's very active the past few years.

I have a billion on Ortiz beating Floyd. Who's down?

I could be wrong but I don't like placing bets on fighters over 33. That's just me. If Floyd Mayweather still has it, he'll beat Ortiz impressively in a fight that could be dangerous early. But to the Mayweather fans - the ones who probably began following the sport because of him - just know that their comes a time when a fighter loses an inch or two on his reflexes and the punch that used to whiz by him catches him square on the jaw. It's already starting to happen with Floyd and he's at that stage where it could go completely on any given Saturday.

                    ^^^

yep. I was watching Oscar vs Floyd just yesterday. That Mayweather would have stopped Mosley in their recent fight in the late rds. Floyd has lost some of his reflexes, he took two shots against Mosley he would not normally take.
