Floyd had a total of 2 fights at 140, when Tszyu got stopped by Hatton and retired. Floyd's first fight at 140, was against top 5 JWW Demarcus Corley, his second fight was against top 10 JWW Henry Bruseles. In the Bruseles post fight, he called out Kostya Tszyu, Mosley, Gatti and De La Hoya. He got Gatti, Tszyu got HAtton, both fights took place in June 2005. Floyd won his fight by TKO, Tszyu lost his fight by TKO, Tszyu retired, Floyd moved up to welterweight division chasing Mosley and De La Hoya.

So when did Mayweather skip Kostya Tszyu?
First off, i said at that time i would have slightly favored floyd.

Second, daggum already answered most of this post. Floyd's entire time at 140 was spent trying to and getting gatti's belt. It was like he walked through Zoo's neighborhood where he was the king, smacked them up, stole their bikes and hauled ass before he got caught.

But you can respond and pretend that a fighter getting called out in the media, makes no difference on a future potential fight being made.
Yes, being called out in public makes little to no difference in a fight being made. That is correct.

I can name quite a few lw champs that called floyd put publicly, but alas, im not gay enough to have the exact second down on their video's memorized.

Zoo was the king at 140, floyd was just passing through to get money, he wanted no part of zoo. Except some of his leftovers...there's no shame, a bujch of people strolled right by zoo acting like they didnt see him or selling wolf tickets.

But once again, there were no negotiations between Mayweather & Tszyu for a potential fight, or even attempted negotiations. And Tszyu was semi-retired from 03-05, so it really DOESN'T make any difference.
tszyu was actively campaigning for hbo and showtime to come together or for one fighter to fight on the other network for a fee. what was mayweather doing to make the fight? nothing because oh he already had his eyes set on gatti and was busy fighting 2 eliminators to get a fight with a guy who wanted no part of him.

140-147, who was it that he didn't fight, that he was supposed to fight?
Mayweather has over a million loyal/die-hard fans, who swear he never avoided anyone and fought the very best, it would be pointless trying to argue that he ducked anyone, ..

The facts are though, at 140 he fought:

                  Corley
                  Bruseles
Gatti (who had Tszyu's stripped WBC title he'd held for 5 years)

Notable champs and respected fighters at 140 he didn't fight were:

Cotto (WBO champ - six defences)
Tszyu (Undisputed best in the division, unified champ)
Hatton (After he beat Tszyu and Mayweather beat Gatti that was the fight to decide the best, Mayweather only fought him 2 years later makinghim go up to 147)

And it was the same at 147, his list of opponents there:

                  Mitchell (moved up from 140)
                  Judah
                  Baldomir
                  Hatton (moved up from 140)
                  Marquez (moved up from 135)
                  Mosley
Ortiz (recently moved up from 140)

Notable champs and respected fighters at 147 he didn't fight:

Margarito (long time WBO champ - seven defences, won IBF, WBA belts)
Cotto (WBA champ - four defences, held WBO belt)
                  P.Williams (2-time WBO champ)
                  Pacquiao (WBO champ, P4P king)

Won't say anything other than I know which list of opponents I'd want on my resume if I was claiming to be an elite ATG, let alone the GOAT. You all know it too.

I just find it funny you're trying to match him up with these past ATGs, when he has done everything to avoid fighting the only prime elite future ATG he's encountered in his career, who's smaller than him in size and by about ten to a dozen lbs in the ring.

I mean this guy, in his prime, went on vacation for a year when public outcry for the Pac fight was at a fever pitch, avoiding the biggest fight of all-time and a record payday. And then comes back to fight a former 140 lber with a crude style tailor made for him, who wasn't even top ten at 140, on the back of his wild victory at welter where he was knocked down twice.

He did the same thing when he retired the first time, when welterweight was the hottest division with Margarito, Cotto, Paul Williams and Mosley lighting it up. Then he came back to fight Marquez, a lightweight, and didn't even bother to make the catchweight to ensure he outweighed him by 15lbs or more.

There's a definate pattern there, and he knows what he's doing. Al Haymon was quoted as saying he studies and chooses his fighters opponents very carefully, and you can believe it.

If Mayweather doesn't fight Pac next, instead yet another 140 guy moving up like Khan or Guerrero, he'll be making a complete joke of his legacy. How anyone could compare him to the true ATGs who actually dared to fight the best of their time is beyond me.
