If you notice in the link I posted, Roy says "I didn't want to give you a window to critisize like you always do, Larry". Keep in mind this is an undefeated, young lion, version of RJJ.

Like I said in another thread about Larry what he does is fine for avid boxing fans like us, but what he does is bad for causal fans. All he does is teach causal fans to enjoy one style of boxing. Thats one thing I give MMA, they try to do the opposite. They on the other hand have learned to try and talk up and make you understand many styles can be enjoyable to watch, from what is perceived as exciting or boring. Only the absolute undebatable boring matches do they ever talk down.

        Good point.

The point I was making was black fighters aren't the only technical fighters out there; yet we never hear Larry speaking negatively on any other technical non-A.A fighters.

Even getting up in age Larry dropped a top 10 line of his career when he said Haye was wetting himself in the ring. Larry was great last Saturday. The best has yet to come, I'm hoping.

Larry Merchant hates boring fighters who put him to sleep. We came to see a fight not a track and field.

LOL @ "what Larry does is bad for the casual fans"

                smh.

Just because he doesn't ****ride your favorite fighter doesn't make it bad.

You can be a marble in the ring. Very technically skilled. And, still be in an entertaining fight.

But, if the **** it's boring. I would like to listen tell me how it is...Than somebody just being nuthuggers because the fighter is on the network they work for.

George Foreman for example was riding Tito Trinidad while Tito was getting his ass kick by Hopkins. I don't want to listen to that. I want to listen to somebody calling it like it is in the ring.

Merchant is the man. Kellerman can't hold his jockstrap right now.

                That is all.

Oh and BTW, Foreman was cool...For comedic purposes...

Merchant is good for nice one liners that can get a chuckle but for in depth sound analysis on boxing I'll pass. Hes funny sometimes but when hes just whining and crying throughout a fight it gets old rather quickly.

Best commentators right now are Tarver and Roy ironically.

smh its Not about ****riding anyones favorite fighter, its about enjoying more different styles of fights and fighters, which he does not. Has he showed to like very technically skilled boxers? Yes, only when they let their hands go and get into somewhat of a fire fight type fight. Which what he likes.
