there's no opponent in floyd's resume that you can use to gauge what floyd can do against martinez. hardcore floyd fans are always saying floyd's skills and smarts will make the difference. well, those skills and smarts have never been tested at a level where martinez is at so how can you really gauge what difference will it make?

martinez may not be as skillful as floyd but with his size advantage and his MW power, that's more than enough to make floyd think twice and fight more defensively than what he did against baldomir and a past prime dela hoya. with that in mind i actually think floyd will fight tentatively and that will somewhat mess up his fight plan. what more if martinez actually begin to land his punches on floyd? floyd will get hurt for sure and how is he going to react to something he's never experienced in the ring before? and floyd doesn't have the power to really bother martinez. i actually think floyd will not totally commit offensively against martinez being on defensive mode all the time and that will somewhat lessen the impact of his punches especially when he's constantly retreating.

martinez by ud or late round stoppage. don't even think floyd will step up to fight martinez anyway so...

In that same breath Martinez hasnt seen anything like what will be standing across from him if he fights Mayweather.

Sure slower, smaller, easily discouraged guys haven't come close to outpointing floyd.

Sergio is not that. Plus a kd or ko is not out of the question, he almost went down from a straight right from Shane. floyd could get a kd on sergio as well, who is subject to flash kd's.
The bolded is nowhere near true. Martinez isnt faster than Floyd, Pac, Khan, judah or even Berto. Hes just not.

The main difference between for example Pac's hand speed and Martinez hand speed is the way they throw the punches. Pac has a more traditional stance and guard, while Martinez fights with his hands down and throw punches from a lot of different angles.

sergio's wasn't really a factor in his fights pre-dizzy, but its obviously a new tool in his arsenal.
Rewatch the Bunema fight. He dominated him with the same jab he used to dominate Dizzy with. I think we just got used to not seeing him use the jab because it's hard to use it against the giants that are Williams and Pavlik.

Martinez likes to throw from his hips. Even when he fires in a normal way his one shot punches arent as fast as people make them out to be. I mean especially when Paul Williams was matching his handspeed constantly.

Martinez puts his hands together well in combos but for someone to say hes just as fast as Mayweather is funny.

All that I meant is that because Martinez throws his punches from his waist, he gets different angles that other boxers are not used to, so it's harder for them to see the punches coming. He may not be faster, but he's still fast and with the angles he uses it's even harder for some guys to see the punches coming, sometimes even harder than when fighting against a faster guy but with a traditional stance.

                  IMO he beats them all.

Abraham can give him problems cause he is a strong physical guy that can muscle him around and have the punchers chance

Sturm is an accurate puncher and might be a harder fight than expected

Floyd is a defensive fast counterpuncher and might make it a long dull fight

He's the longest reigning champion in any division (154 title holder for 6 years and counting) and gurantee no one at 154 will fight him, for good reason. Being a southpaw made him even more dangerous, sergio hasn't been in with too many of them.

IN a nutshell, he's a 'rangier' version of Sturm fighting out of a more difficult stance. Hence the reason I beleive sturm is a cake walk for Sergio. Dizzy is better than Sturm IMO or atleast poses more of an issue just by being a southpaw and being as tall as he is.

The big plus though, was how sergio outjabbed the jabber. people who followed Dizzy can make a serious ase for him having the best jab in the sport. Sergio completely ruinned it.. and with his hands down at that. I personally don't think FLoyd throws enough punches to make sergio pay for dropping his hands.

I like that sergio doesn't just counter, but he punches WITH his opponent whilst slipping. All of this spells trouble for floyd since sergio doesn't slip first then punch.. but instead usually slips and punches all in 1. Floyd not being a combination puncher.. would seriously have a harder time than you guys think landing leather on sergio. he can see '1' punch coming pretty well.
I heard he was supposed to be this great jabber but lets face it, he was so slow it was over in the first three rounds. Im not that nationalistic but I do get tired of hearing about these so called beast from Europe that fizzle. Cotto would drill Dizzy from what I saw. Even Canelo lays him flat.

Sergio is long and has the reflexes to lean away from floyd's one pujch straight right. Floyd's had problems with the straight left....

Now, sergio is stronger, more power, taller, just as quick or probably quicker, longer reach, more active. People are too used to seeing floyd wit dramatic physical advantages. Sergio's timing is impeccable as is floyds.
Ill be an erich mofo if floyd ever fights sergio.

Who do you reckon would be the favorite?

so now you're comparing shane's jab to this one?

you can't be serious. also, not how sergio DID use his jab to set up offense, like you've claimed he doesn't do.

This is what I see in the vid. You did prove a good point to whoever you were talking to but I saw Dizzy's slow punches make it to the mark clean while Serg's hands were down. I also saw him breathing rather heavily after 4 rounds. Getting tired is a huge strike when fighting Floyd. And if he gets gassed a little and Dizzy touches him then Floyd will touch him many many times. Serg is just as quick but he's not as accurate and doesnt have timing which is more important than speed against Floyd. I say it goes 12 rounds in favor of Floyd(with him occasionally on his bike). Floyd only loses if he tries to shoot it out.

Really? Abraham? I wouldnt pick him over Gamboa at this point. Serg kills him from the 5th round on.
