Because there is always a 1st time. Using your logic, the 1st fighter to ask for more weight penalties, which you said in an earlier post happen all the time, should'nt have done it because there was no precedent.

Sorry dude I respect you but I can't get with that.

And why would it be different for a latino fighter and a black fighter?
The same reason Denzel had to be a dirty, foul crooked Cop before he took an Oscar.

The same reason Halle had to go nude and **** Billy Bob Thornton before she got hers.

        Wake up bro.

That penalty is as legit as making Pac pay a crazy fine because Pac missed weight int he past. But they arent fighting at those weights they are fighting at 147.
My issue with floyd fans using the weight penalty manny requested as an excuse for floyd being allowed to request drug tests is that like you said Floyd never ever came in over 147 when that was the weight contracted.
I saw that request from mannys camp as just an insurance policy in case that 1 in a million shot that floyd did come in overweight occured that they could cash out.

I'm sure Roach and Manny never really thought floyd would come in over the limit but as a way to doubly make sure he didnt, ask for some ridiculous amount of money.

sure it was a crazy request but to me it was just like a "were never gonna get that money but **** it, if he comes overweight and ruins the fight at least we'll get something"

Floyd is fighting an uphill battle if thats what he really wants though. There hasnt been a black boxer that didnt have to be a jerk to be a crossover star since Leonard. Many have tried to smile and be nice didnt work though.

            Mosley tried it.
            Evander tried it.
            Winky tried it.

            It just doesnt work anymore.

Tyson and Floyd hit that level being the bad guy. But hey on that note look at Tyson Americas loves him now hes in movies, dancing and shyt etc. People have forgot about the **** cases, the gay rants, the eating children thing etc.

Floyds gonna have to wait til retirement if he wants to be liked. lol
            John McEnroe.

Ali, hated in his time now is loved around the world.
Tyson, convicted rapist and clearly short a few bricks...hated during his mid-late career. Was essentially a boxing sideshow. Now look how he has turned his image around.

I agree, things can change for Floyd but I do disagree about Mosley and Evander, they were very loved it's just that they didn't have the personality that Leonard or Ali did, very few do.

Oscar was loved because he had the skills and personality and that very rarely comes together.

Let me give you another analogy, Floyd is like the prettiest girl at the prom and she knows she's the prettiest. She is constantly telling you she is the prettiest and how all the boys want to dance with her.

She tells you that her dress is the prettiest and the most expensive. She tells you she rode in the nicest limousine and her corset is the best.

After a while, she becomes ugly to you, because no matter how beautiful she really is, it's her attitude that turns people off to her. That's Floyd, the prettiest girl at the prom and all he does is repeat it to you over and over.

Also, you need to understand that perception of a fighter is based on how the avg joe relates to him. Guys like blue collar fighters, because they can relate to them. The like humble guys who prove themselves in the ring and let the writers and fans talk about them.

Floyd runs around flaunting money, thousands of dollars and the avg man doesn't identify with that. Floyd says over and over that legacy, the sport and it's history don't mean ****, what matters is MONEY.

That's why he isn't more liked because truth be told, Mayweather was smarter, with his good looks, smile and ability...he could have been bigger than DLH if he would have played his cards right.

Arum is a snake, I would never defend him. His treatment of Oscar alone is de****able, but what I'm saying is that the weight penalty , as exaggerated as it was, is nothing new to boxing, Olympic style testing is.

I know you can make the argument that both are bad, I agree but like I said, Floyd can't use that excuse when he did the same thing with JMM a fighters already two weight classes lower than him.

Look, I think we BOTH as fans want to see this fight and for the record I have Floyd winning as well. What bothers me is Floyds mouth and ******ity in all of this. On one hand he says Manny is a one dimensional fighter that can easily be beat, then he says if he loses he wants it to be to a clean fighter...

He's all over the place and personally, I do think Floyd is a little worried about Manny. I think Floyd desperately wants to retire undefeated, that "0" is something that means everything to him.
Obviously Floyd is worried about Manny. I think he's worried about a lot of boxers as he grows older. And...he's worried about the rampant use of PEDs that a lot of these boxers are taking. A fighter being worried doesn't mean they'll duck out of a fight. It's becoming more and more obvious that asking for tougher testing isn't a reason for a bout not being made. Especially given the opponents Floyd is facing compared to the ones Manny's facing.

ye im sure it was the "****ing billy bob thornton" that did it for halle.

And poor benicio had to be involved with drugs to win his oscar.

I think ur reaching. If it worked for Oscar to be a (fake) good guy then it could work for a black charismatic fighter too.

I just can't agree with this justification. Its either wrong to propose things outside the the established rules and procedures of the state commission where you fight or its right.
