    hmm

I'm just having a pop at that Sucking_Lightweight for saying the only reason people dislike Roy Jones Junior is because they're a Noob to boxing (i.e. know nothing) or they are a Brit.
Please learn to read. I said anyone who thins Roy is less of a great or has a ruined/tarnishe dlegacy based on his last fight....is basically a rook, an hater, or a Brit.

It's really not that hard. Keep up and wipe that drool off yer face.

      hmm

And let's be clear about this whole "Brit" thing. You guys have hated on Roy at a far higher percentage than Americans or anyone else, and I also notice you laud this Joe Calzaghe *****boy.

      Hypocrisy at its finest.

Tell me Super_Lightweight... Did you feel a little cheated spending all that money to go and see "The Roy Jones Junior Carnival" roll into St Pete, Time Forum... Only to have him pretending to be a chicken by slapping his boots with his gloves, flapping his arms, sticking his tounge out, and bird calling?

Or did you all gather around together and marvel at his spectacle? Saying things to each other like, "Look look! Wooooooooo That's because he grew up on a chicken farm, he's trying to fight like a chicken!"

You might not like Calzaghe... But at least he always comes to fight, and he always comes to win.

What makes the fight so disappointing to a lot of fans was the obvious outcome of the fight. Which was about Roy Jones too concerned with not getting KO'd than winning.

The first 4-5 rounds went by without anything significant happening. Most people thought that Roy Jones will go all guns blazing, or die trying.

I'm a Jones fan but I admit that when it comes to Tarver, or Johnson, he gets beat.

I don't care about old age or about taking too much punishment. A champion finds a way to win. Period. That's just it. People won't respect a fighter if all he does in a career-defining moment is stick out his tongue and do nothing.

Are you still talking bull****, S-L?

You know, I was actually gonna come on here tonight and say I'd been too hard on you. But this racist (Nationalist, if you must) bull**** is just ludicrous.

If you don't like Roy Jones you either know nothing about boxing, you're a "hater" (like what we used to say in kindergarten, right??) or a "Brit".

**** me! What next - if you don't like Jeff Lacy you're a disabled gay **** ***? Have you any IDEA how insulting what you're saying is? You're basically writing off another human being's right to have an opinion - and the validity of their opinion - due to their race.

And what does it mean that Americans like Roy more anyway? That they've got some good brainwashing vats in the States or something?

I was rooting for Roy on Saturday - I yelped with delight when he did all his showboating in the fifth (unlike Martin, I LOVE the chicken stuff) and backed Tarver off the ropes for the first time. But after seeing him stop trying halfway through I was disappointed.

Was Ali as great as Roy from the start of his career to his exile? Sure was. But those were - like Roy's whole career - like boxing exhibitions. As good as Roy was - a prime exponent of the "hit and don't get hit" mentality, which I admire - in order to become truly GREAT, they need that triumph over adversity.

Roy, like Tyson, never got his Zaire...

              hmm

Ali didn't triumph over the age of 36 after losing 18 lbs of muscle. Please get that through your head. All he did was cover up vs Foreman and wait til he got tired. Wow.

Yes I feel cheated and I bow down to Calzaghe. He's such a great fighter. He always comes to fight (vs guys he's already KO'd in 1 round). Yep, I really respect the guy.

And you still don't get it. Seriously. You can like or not like Roy for all I care...don't give a ****. But, I've already said what the truth is about anyone who judges Jones based on his recent shortcomings. Talk aboyt short-sighted.

Yeah... he had the will to absorb shots from the arguably hardest-hitting heavyweight in history and had the smarts to outthink him. (Plus, he did more than just "cover up and wait"). I guess that gets pissed all over by a guy who does chicken impressions and nearly gets KTFO for a second time off Antonio Tarver.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from now. What a fool I've been!

I actually highlighted your entire post by mistake, I never once referred to Calzaghe in my replies.

But then I'm a Brit, right? We all think the same, so I must love him. Actually, he IS pretty decent. It's just noobs, haters and Yanks that don't like him. Anyone who KNOWS boxing, yada yada yada...

Edited to add: I just noticed that the Calzaghe bit was a reply to Martin. Nevermind, we're all the same anyway.

                    You don't give a **** what I think? Why? Cos I'm a Brit?

"The truth"? Sorry, you do realise the difference between subjective opinion and objective fact, right?

Only Brits, haters and noobs bash Roy after Saturday. **** me... come back and argue when you've left junior school, eh?

I think I'll say ... "WOW!" There's no pleaseing some people.

By the way, Ricky Hatton has to shed 40lbs everytime he fights, you don't hear him bitching about it. And if you say.. "Oh, but this was muscle mass RJJ had to lose"... Then I can only say that it's Roy Jones Junior's fault for using steroids.

OK... Hold that thought... Finally we're getting somewhere with you. You felt cheated out of money by the, all singing, all dancing, chicken impresionist, tounge sticking, arm flapping - "Roy Jones Junior Carnival" at the weekend???

He doesn't give a f**k about his fans, otherwise he wouldn't have got you all to get your wallets out for one last payday - and him shamefully admitting after that he wasn't bothered about winning, he was just worried about getting knocked out again.

So baring that in mind... Back to the reason of this thread "before you jumped in feet first" - Has Roy improved or lessened his rep in your eyes with the last Tarver fight?

Now answer the actual question honestly...

You see... You can get the answer in the end... Some people just need to have a little think about it first, and let all their emotions calm down.
