Ali's last fight was a lot worse than Roy's last fight. Ali took a beating and never had to lose 18 lbs of muscle like Roy did, since you wanna go there.

Roy's legacy is still the same. No better, no worse.
SL, you're a cool guy, but saying stuff like "noob", "hater" and making racist remarks really is beneath you.

      hmm

It's not racist. If anything, it's nationalist...if ya wanna go there. I'm just saying something that is apparently a fact in my eyes. Martin and you are both Brits, as well as JuyJuy, and you would all say the same thing. It may be a coincidence I do not know, but it is still a fact that a lot of Brits hate on Roy Jones Jr.

Also, someone who is a "noob" (a rookie who knows little about boxing history) would say Roy is overrated or his legacy is crap from his last fight. That's just a fact. I don't care if any1 thinks I'm less cool of a guy because I say the truth, which is that rooks are one type of ppl who would say some dumb **** like RJJ's legacy is worse due to his most recent fight at 36.

      No.

It was the racist angle the most. Nationalist... whatever you want to call it. Citing three members - who say SIMILAR things for DIFFERENT reasons - and trying to link them together through race is beneath you. It's dismissive to suggest someone only holds a view because of where they were born.

I've seen Americans on here slate Roy... does that mean if more than three do it US members hate Roy too? Come on, get off it!

Roy is still a great fighter in my eyes. His losses haven't diminished his accomplishments to me. He was a spectacular fighter in his prime. He just doesn't have the drive to win anymore. I think Tarver is a great fighter with a much greater desire to win. Jones' time is over, and Tarver is just hitting his peak. I think it's the same with a lot of fighters, later in their career. They want to box, and they want to silence all the bad things people are saying about them, but when they're in the ring, they find they don't have the drive or the desire to win that they had when they were younger and climbing to the top. Roy Jones was a great fighter. I'm not going to place him in any kind of "Top 10" because I think those lists are rediculous. He was a great fighter, and probably could be again if he really wanted it, but I don't think he ever will.

I find all the negativity regarding boxers in general pretty annoying. If you're anywhere near the cream of the crop in any division, you're a great fighter, and people need to show them more respect. There's so much trash talk about fighters, and I find it kind of de****able. People demand so much of fighters, and try to bring them down for the pettiest reasons. These guys walk into the ring knowing full-well that they could leave braindead, crippled or lifeless.

Anyway, enough of that ... Roy Jones made his mark, and it's not tarnished in my eyes.

He never had much legacy anyway in my eyes, so it did nothing.

32% of people are saying it's lessened Roy's legacy. Are they all Brits, S-L?

You're forgetting he actually beat Tarver before Tarver ever knocked him out. That was his toughest fight, and he won. I mean, it's easy to say he was never any good if you've been waiting for any reason that would allow you to say it. No, he's not Mr.Invincible. He was eventually proved human, like any other boxer. But really, can you actually say he wasn't a great boxer because of what you think might have happened in fights that never actually occurred?

That wasn't a good win at all though. The rounds Tarver won, Tarver won big. The rounds Roy won, he sc****d. Yeah, he won, but as a boxing match, not as a fight. Tarver battered Roy and imposed his will on him that night.
