A loss to one doesn't hurt the other's career IMO, especially if it's a good crowd-pleasing fight, which is what I expect it would be.

And didn't Canelo say he didn't want to be on anyone's undercard? He's proven this year that he can draw them in- Mexico or Cali, 10K+ in the stands, 1.5 million+ watching at home. Chavez can make similar claims. If there's no money in an undercard fight, put these two in as headliners of their own card. I think it can do 500K buys, a sold out arena in Texas or Cali (or maybe even Azteca in Mexico), and could warrant big money rematches.

Don't see what's gained with Gomez. Chavez is taking on Rubio this year (reportedly).
No,Canelo wants to keep active. And hbo has reserved dates in sept for
other fighters in berto and gamboa. So he has to fight on card.Hbo has
lost alot of there budget. So dont expect canelo in big fights this year
thanks to hbo spending the majority of there money on a bullshlt fight
    like bradley-alexander,

rather watch a bradley alexander, the two best in the division at the time, then canelo beat another overmatched opponent. El perro destroys this hype train, make that fight two mexicans goin at it.

And they're both 5'9", and they're both from Jalisco, and it's on the undercard of Mayweather/Ortiz, and it's on the Mexican independent weekend, and didn't Gomez call out Canelo this past month or some shit like that?... even after all those "ands" it's still a **** fight where you know damn well who is going to win. But thankfully it's just speculation and the fight hasn't been signed yet.... or at least I hope not.

          I still hate the fight.

But since he is fighting on the under-card, it kinda makes sense.
Funny thing is i can see gomez giving him problems. But Canelos a big kid whos going to be a middleweight soon. And Gomez was the smallest dude on the contender if I recall right.

Thing is though, Top Rank isn't beholden to HBO's goodwill. They have the ability to either go to SHOWTIME or put on their own PPV events. If Golden Boy throws money into the pot and co-promotes, they can easily put together their own card without HBO's ineptitude getting in the way.
