To some extent...Alfonso Gomez makes sense. Two Mexicans going at it on Mexican Independent weekend. It's only logical to pack the September PPV show with as many mexicans as possible.

Gomez is on Miguel Cotto's resume... A fight Canelo wants badly...Gomez will be used as a measuring stick.

Canelo will be a undercard bout....so don't expect a tough opponent.

on the card of floyd,Which dont have alot of money.
Bob Arum says he'll make that fight in a heartbeat. I'm sure Top Rank and their matchmakers realize that Chavez coming in at 180 lbs would be a shock to Canelo who is used to fighting light-hitting welters. A loss to one doesn't hurt the other's career IMO, especially if it's a good crowd-pleasing fight, which is what I expect it would be.

And didn't Canelo say he didn't want to be on anyone's undercard? He's proven this year that he can draw them in- Mexico or Cali, 10K+ in the stands, 1.5 million+ watching at home. Chavez can make similar claims. If there's no money in an undercard fight, put these two in as headliners of their own card. I think it can do 500K buys, a sold out arena in Texas or Cali (or maybe even Azteca in Mexico), and could warrant big money rematches.

Don't see what's gained with Gomez. Chavez is taking on Rubio this year (reportedly).

                    Muammar Gaddafi is overrated.

He will continue to duck the major players in his division.

Well, he did fight at at 154 on the contender.

And he looked big compared to Cotto.

                      I still hate the fight.

But since he is fighting on the under-card, it kinda makes sense.
