Oscar has more reach, speed, and power.

Oscar had mixed results in his last few performances after the Mayorga fight, but Cotto would have got whooped too by an ATG middleweight like Bernard Hopkins. Miguel was highly competitive with a pass prime older Mosley. I would also pick the younger roided up Shane that Oscar rematched to beat Cotto too.
BWAHAHA!!! I hope Cotto gets squashed by Hopkins, the size disparity is unbelievably unfair that's your best comparison? Also, Mosley wasn't washed up til he went life and death with Vargas and Mayorga, the fight was 4 years ago not four months ago. You're just bitter because Cotto could beat Shane and Oscar couldn't admit it.

I'm bringing Hopkins and Mosley up because jrsolaes brought Oscar's mixed results in his last few fights as a reason why Cotto would be the better fighter had they fought. You too know that Bernard and that Mosley beats Miguel.

There is nothing that Floyd does that Cotto can not cope with and vice versa. Its still a good fight for both of them.

And I'm a big fan of Ortiz and was not mad that he quit against Maidana. But before the Berto fight, this entire website was killing this dude and now after one fight and because he's fighting Mayweather, fans gotta prop him up.

This website is just amazing to me sometimes. When it was Floyd vs Mosley, Mosley was p4p top 5, prime and THE WW champ and yadda yadda yadda and then when it was Pac vs Mosley, Mosley was over the hill and such. And the reverse holds true. People prop up or discredit a fighter based on who their favorite fighter is. Mosley was fully shot after Mayorga exposed him as being washed up. This **** disgusts me.

Cotto is now shot after two losses and now, avenging his first loss is not noteworthy to some of these clowns. Margarito would still be a problem for most fighters out there with his style.
cotto isnt shot but he definitely isnt as good as he once was. i kno ur a fan but accept the truth. the minute he steps in the ring with a top fighter hes gonna get beat pretty badly. arum knows it, thats why cotto has been fighting no hopers since pac. and margarito is shot. dont use him to make ur point.

Yes, why not it would make some cash at 154 in a good boxing match I like Mayweather beating Cotto on points 8 rounds to 4 money Mayweather in a ud.

However, one would do with the other opponent and how they did against common opponent. Is irrelevant to who they match will take place.

Again that version of Oscar might beat this version of Cotto. But, it's debatable.

Prime Cotto beats that version of Oscar.

Prime Oscar whoops any version of Cotto.

              Today Cotto whoops today Oscar.

I didn't say he wasn't the same guy. The old Cotto would just walk through punches and keep coming. But just because he no longer fights in that manner and fights more technically does not mean he's shot. It just means to me that he's maturing as a fighter and as the comp toughens up.

Cotto has fought two fights since the Pac fight, and underwent shoulder surgery. I don't understand how this is such a negative, as if the Pac fight was 5 years ago or something. This forum was almost universally split that Yuri Foreman was going to beat Cotto. The press was pretty split on who'd win:

But once Cotto dismantles the guy and shows that his body and mind still got fight left, people have to discredit him. The Mayorga fight was a perfect fight for him coming off of a lay off and shoulder surgery. He fought a guy much bigger than him but would also stay there and fight and give him some rounds, but is past it.

And Margarito may not be his prime again, but I don't know if I can say he's shot until I see him fight against Cotto. He fought his style of fight against Pac and kept the pressure, only problem is that Pac is too fast and has stamina just as good as him. No fighter out there has those attributes that Pac has. My point is, I'm not willing to call a fighter shot after one performance or anything. It doesn't make any sense

This version as in the Cotto of the present? Oscar off of Mayorga would beat present day Cotto easily.

I think Oscar off Mayorga has a competitive fight with Miguel and wins.

Present Cotto beats present Oscar easily. Oscar has been doing drugs and is out of shape.

if u mean foreman, there was no need to discredit him. i dont kno that many ppl that thought he was good to begin with. i thought his movement would give cotto some trouble but i wasnt at all convinced he'd win. ive seen mot of his fights. hes not that good.

the mayorga fight is indefensible. and if u wanna say margarito isnt shot then cool. but why the frik is cotto fighting him when he hasnt beat even a gatekeeper in going on 3 yrs? hes a no hoper just like mayorga.

Though it still makes economic sense, Floyd couldn't fight Cotto right now because:

                      1. He would be accused of draining him if the fight was at 147

                      2. He would be accused of fighting a washed up fighter.

Cotto needs some big wins over top comp to make this fight viable again.
