Im surprised so many people think Cotto would beat Alvarez.

That was the 1st time i watched Alvarez last night and he looked very strong, fast, smart and very powerful.
Like a young Cotto but not as good.

I was impressed. I hope he keeps improving.

    He beats Cotto. imo

his fight with rhodes, he showed improvements. so that really keeps things optimistic, it shows he really learned his lesson on getting tagged a lot by his older opponents and worked on it. he'll be 21 next month, sky's the limit for this kid if he is committed and so far, it looks like he is. there's lots of hate on this kid due to the public media hyping him up, but he does look to have a bright future the route he is going. i'm not sure if he beats the current state of cotto, i think he needs more experience with good opposition willing to fight him

I like Alvarez alot. He's gonna be a great Champion. He's young with skills and power, but right now today Cotto beats him, in a couples years from now Alvarez beats him. Cotto whips everyone Alvarez has fought thus far. Cotto is lightyears away from a Rhodes when it comes to boxing.

Let Canelo fight all the bums from England and all the old guys, but when he fights PACQUIAO the MEXICUTIONER it will be like all the others. A BEATING like a Pinata by PAC!!!!!

Please make this fight at 154

Canelo is still a great developing WIP. His people need to keep him away from the true best of 154 for a while longer until he is truly at his peak or at least closer.

Cotto is over-hyped by people on here.

I dont see it happening, Cotto is past his prime. I doubt he's going to do anything to Canelo, Canelo will out-work him.

Cotto would beat this kid senseless. Simply by putting the jab on him and being a far superior caliber of opponent than Saul has ever seen. Canelo is not the classic come forward take three to give one mexican fighter. His style would really let Cotto fight his fight and dictate the pace which would be a horrible thing for him. I think by about round 5 this fight would turn into a one sided beating.

What would be a very entertaining and great money fight for Canelo/huge measuring stick would be a fight at 154 with Mayorga. Would be another step up in competition against a guy who was just brutalized by what should be Canelo's eventual target, Cotto.

Canelo has better combos and faster hand speed and better body shots, Cotto has a good jab but he would be Canelo's ***** after 4 rounds Canelo beats him bad. Cotto would be on the run like he did from pac.
