Its funny, in earlier times in the sport, fans had an appreciation for guys who didint knock everyone out all the time. I know since dec 2008, a fighters achievements are basically what round you knocked out a said fighter for some fans, but for people who actually watch the sport, going through the super 6 tourney which has featured nothing but solid fighters would say otherwise.

Seeing the TS avatar you can pretty much guess where his feelings are when it comes to the sport, id pay him no mind.

Ward beat the guy who beat froch and has fought 100X better competition than Bootay who has fought tomato cans his whole career. Get real kid and pick something else to complain about.

He never fought Froch or Bute but Ward is automatic top 10 P4p!

I don't care if he is American, British, Canadian, German, Brazilian, Spanish, Italian, French..... well you get the point but I think he is overrated because he is American. I am American. But I wont overrate an American fighter. I hate Super middleweight P4P lists. Until Froch vs Ward. Don't rate either one.
Just because a few of the hard core boxing fans know him and speak highly of him, doesn't mean he's overrated. Outside of us, who the **** even knows who Andrea Ward is? No one. He's a nobody. He's not overrated at all. Just like kirkland was not overrated. no hype on either of these fighters. Call Mayweather or Pac overrated because that is more likely the case.

How is overrated when he beat Kessler who beat Froch? That is exactly why most people rank him higher unless they are big fans of Froch. Froch has barely fought the better competition only because Ward went to the Olympics won Gold, so Froch got his career going first.

Froch & Ward are fighting next so why you biitchin'? They will decide who's #1 and deserve the right P4P spot right now they both could be P4P top 10, I just have Ward higher because he beat Kessler but he still whooped Abraham's ass as much if not more then Froch.

Boring has nothing to do with it. He's still more dominant then Froch.

This is an opinion that not everyone shares. For example, I think that his fights are fun to watch. They aren't Manny Pacquiao affairs, but he's well-trained and uses his strengths to his advantage. Nothing wrong with that.

He Leaps when he punches and barley ever gets KOs ( Unlike Froch or Bute )
1 KO in his last 7 fights and 1 stoppage.
              And?

Willie Pepp had a 26% KO ratio. What does that prove? This is boxing, not knockouts. While it's exciting, it's not needed. He still thoroughly beats his opponents and in truth, I'd rather it be that way if I had to choose. If I'm ranking fighters, I rank the guy higher who dominates a fight and wins on points than a guy who wins by more knockouts but has closer fights because of it.

He never fought Froch or Bute but Ward is automatic top 10 P4p!
And Froch has never faced Bute or Ward and Bute has never faced Ward or Froch. Once again, what does that prove? I don't care what fashion it took place in or if you liked the performance, but Ward beat Kessler, and Froch didn't. Kessler might be fighting Bute. AFTER Ward beat him.

              Ward has a quality resume.

I don't care if he is American, British, Canadian, German, Brazilian, Spanish, Italian, French..... well you get the point but I think he is overrated because he is American. Then this is a pointless thread. If you're saying we shouldn't rate them, then why are you complaining about the rating? Obviously, you haven't made your mind up then. So what's the difference?

He's not overrated because he's American. You can check the p4p list, there are only 3 Americans. None in the top 5.

When it comes to Super Middleweight rankings, Andre Ward is the only American in the rankings. And he's beaten 3 of the other 9 guys in the division. More than Froch or Bute. As many as both of them, combined.

Ward has Bika, Abraham and Kessler. Froch has Abraham and Johnson. Bute has Bika. That's not including currently unranked fighters that any of these three have faced.

By the way, here's a trivia question:

How many of those wins that Froch and Bute have in those three fights were stoppage victories?

There are good reasons Ward doesn't have a lot of KOs. First, he doesn't fight bums, he fights the best. Second, he doesn't take big risks, he fights to win.

I rate Ward, and think he's gonna beat Froch when they meet, but as yet I don't think he has done enough to warrant being included in pound 4 pound top 10 lists. It's got nothing to do with the "boring" nature of his fights, he just hasn't done enough yet. His win over Kessler for the title was a great scalp, but it wasn't enough to get him p-4-p props. Since then he's defended the belt 3 times against Allan Green (massively overrated), Sakio Bika (solid but not amongst the boxing elite) and Arthur Abraham (out of his depth in the Super 6.) While this is a very good resume for a Super-Middleweight champ, it's is not a stand-out pound-for-pound top 10 resume. If he beats Froch he'll have won a strong Super 6 tourney, will have added another title belt and be able to confidently claim he's the best in his division (he's still neck and neck with Froch at the mo for me) and so then, but only then, could he claim to be a ligit top p-4-p boxer.

Ward hasn't lost since 1998, as an amateur or a pro. That's 13 years

Regardless of whether one likes his style or not (or his skin color or his nationality) the man deserves his respect.

he's not overrated at all, the dude has some great skills.

he may not be a KO Artist but he knows what he's doing in the ring , he's been super impressive in the super 6 .
