they was better off not saying anything because this is somewhat a contradiction...WTF does Barker bring to the table? Nobody in the US knows who Barker is, if the fight was in the UK then I would totally understand their logic, but your going to fight this guy in Atlantic City or somewhere in the US and your honestly going to expect people to buy tickets to this? No disrespect to Sergio because I like the guy but his Management and Promoter really don't make much sense here

at least some people know Pirog in the US because he beat a Highly Regard American Prospect in Danny Jacobs and he did it impressively...I don't see anything wrong with fighting Pirog who would have been a better choice then BARKER especially if your plan on fighting Barker in the US, I thought they was going to go fight in the UK and try to do the fight in front of a BIGGER CROWD but instead they want to do it in the US and I don't think the fight is going to do well in the US

Pirog has experience than what Barker has.

I'm just baffled by the Barker move. Especially when you have Pirog out there who by all accounts is damn near a guarantee win.

      It's quite weird.
Me too, cant argue, good point.

Barker isnt even that well known in the UK. Hes not exactly topping big bills and selling out crowds.

well put....to fight someone on Martinez caliber you need to bring something to the table. Just like they do with a Mayweather, a PaC, and a cotto.

Pirog is just Pirog and that's it. He's not Money, He's not P4P, and he's not a great Boriqua or Mexican champ. He's a Russian champ who KO'd a GBP prospect and that's it.

Hopefully after angulo's KO victory we see... Maravilla/Perro. But as i analyze things it's doubtfull. Angulo is going for the WBC 154 belt.

Seriously what do u guys see in this "rivalry" of pirog vs martinez hahahaha

IMO its not even close Pirog had a decent night agains danny jacobs thats for sure but thats the peak of his career winning against a good prospect.

Martinez its superior at every level so i dont really give a damn if they make him fight pirog or any other eurochamp except for maybee just maybe Sturm.

Its time to keep fighting big names there must be one out there that leaves good money and wants to fight.

How can you type something like this out when he's fighting Darren Barker!

Also, Sergio doesn't bring jack sh** to the table himself either. He's known, but he's not a star. All the arguments for why he shouldn't bother with Pirog go out the window when Sergio fights someone even less deserving than Pirog.

No he hasn't. He's had three fights at middleweight, two against the same guy, not anywhere near cleaning out the best in the division.

Pirog has a pretty cool style and he is fun to watch, but he will struggle to find Martinez, and he will have to be careful how he puts his punches together.

Anyone know how he goes against southpaws ?

The fact that nobody will probably answer that question is likely why the fight hasnt happened

I agree that Martinez is all about the money, ooops I mean, big..... fights.

                    Good on him.

I cant imagine him at SMW, but maybe sexy will have to jump up another division to land a money fight.

Pirog should fight Zibik or even Chavez.

He beat the lineal middleweight champ, and the #1 contender.

I would like Sturm as well, but he has been pretty hard to corner since the Hoya fight, aside from him, what other noteworthy fighter deserved a mention?

Those who were " forgotten " cannot be compared to those who weren't.

Not cleaned out, but owned, Martinez is the man at MW, no question.
