If Lou was smart he would have Sergio fight often as oppose to waiting on hbo to give him a date. Build him up. Get his name out there.

I know who Pirog is but before today I had never heard of Barker, and I am a fan. And unless Sergio is really interested in fighting a European champion over a world champion why take Barker over Pirog? And watching Pirog's last fight I see Sergio winning easy and therefore he has another belt. That is another belt besides that ****** a$$ WBC diamond belt. I bet the diamond belt isn't worth anything and its probably cubic zerconia anyways.Last edited by Ravens Fan; 06-15-2011, 10:42 AM.Comment

I think Sergio's team is down playing Pirog alil. A lot of fans know who Pirog is bc of his KO victory over contender, and previously undefeated, Danny Jacobs. I would think he could set up many more oppertunities with a KO or win over Pirog, rather than Barker.Comment

Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser to middleweight Sergio Martinez, has fired back at some of the recently published comments from Banner Promotions President Art Pelullo, who handles the career of WBO champion Dmitry Pirog. Pelullo issued a statement after reading that Martinez had finalized a deal to face unbeaten Darren Barker on October 1. According to Pelullo, Martinez "has no interest" in fighting Pirog because of the danger involved.

I don't understand why team Martinez is so against a fight with Pirog?
It seems like they're willing to fight anybody not named Pirog at 160 or below.
Why would that be?Comment
