Interesting question because there are heavyweights that gained their fame by knocking out 1 guy like Ingemar Johansson and I am certain there would be a number of people singing Hayes praises if he were to win.

For me personally no, if he managed to beat Vitali I would certainly have to listen to that argument but I still think he would need to do more to really crack the great heavy list, which is a pretty hard list to crack.

Too soon to call him an ATG. I don't see anyone calling Buster Douglas an ATG after beating Tyson years later. If he does beat Wlad, he cements himself as the top Heavyweight or at least tied for #1 with Vitali.

Primo had 49 in real heavyweight KOs (200x2) (like Wlad now) by the way when losing to Baer. That's the only similarity.

However MOST of them (except 5!) were against bums like Seal Harris 21-19 (KOratio 16%)

Until the loss to Baer Primo was the world champ for not even 1 year.

There is no comparison to Wlad or Vitali.

Is Buster Douglas considered an ATG?

            Then there's your answer...

              Are you kidding me? No.

Unifying both CW and HW looks great on your resume, but no way near any ATG list at HW, obviously.

If Haye beats Wladimir, you make a case for him being a HOF fighter purely on the basis he unified two divisions in under 30 fights. The quality of some of his opposition is questionable, but like i said unifying two divisions like he has is still respectable, whatever you think of the guy.

But as far as an ATG great goes, its very unlikely. Wlad has beaten 10x more top 10 fighters and even he is struggling to be considered an ATG. So no, i think Haye can be a HOF fighter, but not an ATG Heavyweight

Nope. No way he get's into the HOF. It will just look like Vlad is on the downturn of his career.

He has a better chance of getting in. But He shouldn't either. But considering they let an actor in it's a free for all.

Yeah, but he'll be right behind Hasim Rahman as Rahman actually beat a couple of half decent HWs as well as Lewis
