He had some sort of leg or hip injury but it also to do with the lack of motivation since the death of his younger brother 3 or 4 years ago.

Allegedly his motivation is back though.

        It looks like a DQ.

The ref was slow to get in.
Thats a good question, He 100% touched the canvas and it was easily seen watching it live, and seemingly the ref went to step in and stop the action as Barker was popping up and Samuels completely dropped his hands not protecting himself. I mean I thinkk it was more instinct then anything from Barkers POV not that he was trying to be dirty but he seemingly caused signifigant damage to a fighter who was prepared for a refs. break in the action.

Could u have ruled that a NC?!?

I firmly believe that Barker had no meaning to punch on a break. ALthough I think it was an instinct move by Barker I would have probably stopped the contest to see if Samuels could continue and once I realized he could not I would have had no other choice but to DQ Barker............

Pirog does ALOT more for Martinez than Darren Barker does.

Darren Barker isn't even known in the UK. At all.

And before his lay off had only really fought at British level.

Why he is fighting Martinez I do not know.

                Thats sad to hear......

My view is this, that everyone deserves a chance. This sport that we love sooo much is soo barbaric and brutal and the toll that these fighters unleash on there body day after day and training camp after training camp and fight after fight, these guys deserve a chance to make a big payday and an attempt to come to the US and make a name for themselves.

I mean look at the fight Zbik had with Chaves Jr...I know he owned the WBC Title at the time, but does any1 not wanna give that kid another shot at fighting in the US after watching his performance a few weekends back.????

He had his oppurtunity and as far as Im concerned he cashed it in in a losing effort cuz as a fan I want to see him fight again on a televised boxing card.

not a legit opponent for the pound 4 pound #2 fighter in the world, not even close.

barker is ok has some good fundamentals from what I've seen but nothing suggests he belongs on a higher lever. I mean if Spada is the best opponent he's fought to date that speaks volumes of where he's at.

I expect sergio to KO him within 4 rounds. Just depends on how long sergio wants it to go. Barker is very open to be hit, should be easy work.

Barker looked rusty against Spada and that's understandable.

And fighting Spada for your first fight back is admirable on his part because he could have easily chose an easier fight.

But he simply isn't on the level of Martinez.

I would understand if it was Matthew Macklin (hyperthetically, obviously)

But Barker? I can not understand what Martinez is thinking. He gains nothing from this fight.

he does more. alot more??? no. pirog is still a prospect. ppl arent exacly calling for that fight either. i mean besides us few boxing fanatics, pirog is just as unknown as barker. pirog isnt ready, barker will never be ready. both are totally pointless fights atm imo.

with that said, serg surely has some **** choices rite now. but pirog is definitely the way to go.
