Cheap a$$ Mayweather and Al Haymon.

There's no way Floyd has gotten a 40 million guarantee---his largest previously was 22.5 for Shane. Why would HBO cough up this much?

Mayweather-Ortiz is a good fight, but if Floyd wants the best, then he knows who the man is, and he ain't victor- i drew with peterson- ortiz.

By the way these fighters make much more than what they are guaranteed. Ortiz made $400k for his Berto fight he will make over $5 million for this fight. Making at least $5.4 million for a 24 year old in a 6 month span aint too bad.

That's a lot more than he has previously got.

Add this to the exposure he gets fighting Mayweather, it increases his profile hugely and, providing he performs at an acceptable level, will mean he will be more of a draw afterwards. This is his biggest paday yet and will result in his following fights bringing in more money, this fight is great for Victor providing he doesn't stink the place out (which I doubt he will).

Honestly I enjoy watching Ortiz fight and admire him as a person but just from a technical standpoint he has no chance... He has zero headmovement and never jabs. Even worse... He gets countered almost religiously. He beat Berto on sheer heart and pride. I give him credit but he'll need to be even sharper than he was against Berto... Let's remember he also got dropped twice. His defense is far from good and he allows less talented fighters to match him and at times outbox him (Maidana, Peterson).

Should be exciting though to see where boxing goes from here

That's a great payday for a guy who has never made over $400k.

Just think about it, if Ortiz was in the UFC he would still make the $400k and even that's high for the UFC, some guys make $100k for headlining a PPV card.

3.5 million is plenty of money. Not only is it a career pay day but he gets a chance to stamp his own ticket to the promise land. He needs to put his head down and go to work. If old man mosley can step into a ring after not fighting for a year and a half, and catch floyd as clean as he did, there's no reason to think vic can't catch him as well. Even if he is forced to wear pillow gloves. At worst he's got a five or ten percent chance to pull out he upset. That doesn't sound like much but when ur talking mega million lottery odds, 5 or 10 percent to win it all is damn good.

This fight won't sell. Most casual fans don't have any idea who Ortiz is. They don't even need the usual 5-6 months to promote like its a big fight. September is 4 months away.

This fight will be lucky to do Pac-Clottey numbers.
