$40m to $3.5m. I am not siding with anyone but the disparity (x11) is high enough to warrant some criticism
Floyd is the smartest negotiator in boxing. He knew he could get the king's share and the public couldnt dispute this as a gimme fight. Damn.

He never made a million in his career.
3.5 is great for him but I bet he doesn't get any PPV

he needs to look at what he's getting and not what the other guy is getting.

he's making great money , who cares what the other guy makes?

          win and you make more.
I know, I am not saying I agree with them but I understand where they're coming from, Floyd is clearly the bigger draw and deserves the lion's share as it were. Ortiz is evidently happy with the offer too as he accepted the deal and like you said he will at least double his purse for his next fight if he wins.

It won't be his last payday becaue Bob is gonna feed Ortiz to Pacquiao after Floyd destroys him.

Sure he is taking short money but that short money is actually very long for him, and that is not even taking into account the exposure.
and even in a loss , he'll get name recognition.

he'll be making more money after floyd , win or lose.

Indeed, and if he looks like he actually belongs in the same ring (or better) his course will be set then it is up to him to take advantage.

First off, why do you care what someone you don't even know is getting paid?

Second off, 3.5 million is a nice payment for someone who isn't a superstar, very nice actually. I would of actually expected less.

He'd take home around $1.4mil. They are risking a relatively young fighter in Ortiz. I don't see this being much of a fight at all, Mayweather will dominate. They are rolling the dice in putting this match together, saying that Ortiz will earn his money and be beaten, but not hurt. I wouldn't roll those dice for atleast another year or so. Ortiz needs time to grow and mature as a champion, he has grown leaps and bounds since the olympics but still I think it's too early for Ortiz, Mayweather ko9 Ortiz...........Rockin'
