Will Froch now FINALLY be recognised as a top10 P4P fighter?

I’ve been championing this cause for a while now, and i hope that after his fantastic display on Saturday he will now finally start to receive due recognition and respect.

    Pascal / Taylor / Dirrell / Kessler / Abrahams / Johnson.

    6 HARD fights.
Only one defeat – in a FOTY contender.
4 of the above 6 fights AWAY from home.
2x WBC 168lb champion of the world

What more does he have to do to get respect from some people?!

If Andre Ward is seen as top 10 then Froch MUST be up there, indeed his record is FAR better than Andre Ward’s and he should be seen as a better fighter and as favourite in the upcoming final. Ward has no power and Froch’s chin is GRANITE. He can box too, so im picking Froch not only to beat Ward, but to KO him – impressively.

I have to say that based on respect, Carl Froch is my favourite currently active boxer, a true, true warrior that i would like to think is popular with ALL boxing fans.

    Great fighter, great man.

Well, let's look at The Ring top 10 pound-for-pound list.

    1. Manny Pacquiao.
    2. Sergio Martinez.
    3. Nonito Donaire.
    4. Juan Manuel Marquez.
    5. Wladimir Klitschko.
    6. Timothy Bradley.
    7. Pongsaklek Wonjongkam.
    8. Giovani Segura.
    9. Andre Ward.
    10. Bernard Hopkins.

Quality list. Nonetheless, I think an argument can be made to squeeze in Carl Froch.

Right off the top, I'd be willing to drop Pongsaklek and move everyone up one spot in order to give Froch the 10th spot. I'd also be willing to say that if Hopkins deserves it for beating Pascal, then Froch deserves it for beating him and then fighting the best of the best in his next five fights, only losing once.

So, I would back a motion to put him into the list. Sure. Doubt it happens unless he beats Andre Ward, however.

By the way, Ward will be the favorite going into the final. He's still undefeated and basically man-handled Kessler, the guy who beat Froch. Froch also struggled to an extent against Andre Dirrell. I'm a huge fan of both guys, but these things will be looked at when setting the original odds.

If Froch were American and black, he'd be in the Ring top 10 now.

But like Wlad, because of his nationality and race he'll need to be twice as good before they'll give him that recognition.

Froch has sure done a lot more than Floyd from 2008 to 2011.

Based on competition alone he has to be.

Otherwise, what really is the point in a P4P list.

Why not have Bute on there? He looks great destroying fighters who are good two levels below him in terms of ability.

Yes, clearly Ward beat Kessler who beat Froch........bla, bla, bla. That means nothing to me.

Who has fought better opposition in their last 6 fights? FROCH.

Who has been allowed to fight at home in EVERY round of the SS? WARD.

Froch should be favourite for this fight, ok so Ward is undefeated? Big deal, so is Chavez Jnr and i don’t think anyone is really going to say that he is top 10.

Froch BRINGS IT. Ward.....he’s got to do more to impress me half as much.

P4P is all mythical, people that follow the sport know who the top guys are. He is one of them...but his winning streak will come to an end later this year.

Why is p4p so important anyway? It doesn't mean much and is based on opinion. He's in my p4p list the ring is just a magazine.

I think you're wrong bro, if Froch was American, being white would probably have him at pfp no.2-5. Given how exciting his fights have been and the way white America gets behind its sports stars, the hype would be absolutely crazy and Froch would be earning Pacquiao money.

                  It's a funny old world...
