I can't ever remember him doing so. He's had fights where he's thrown a good punch inside but never actually stayed there and fought.

I hate to bring him up but Clottey is a known to have a good inside game and Pac let him close the distance more than any of the other guys but still, once he'd get inside and Clottey would throw a punch, Pac would create his distance and return fire making Clottey miss and be forced back into his shell.

he throws to create distance, and even when he covers up and is hit he seems to use the punch to push himself back, creating that distance he wants.

In no way possible opponents but Toney has some sick inside game and is very defensive, not to mention Bhop and Floyd, then again their game is more elbows, forearms and head griding. But yea, most inside fighters are swarmers, not defensive boxers.

i think pac likes to commit to almost all of his punches except the jab. so whenever an inside game is brewing he would take a half step back to get leverage from those powerful calves for a power punch.

JLC had relatively good defense on the inside...Hatton, Margarito and Katsidis are all average on the inside and have become overrated due to the lack of inside fighting in boxing today, JMO.

JLC doesn't belong in that category. He was very effective at smothering on the inside. Mayweather is another excellent in-fighter who doesn't come in recklessly like Margarito, Hatton and Cotto. Back in the days, you needed solid defense to fight well on the inside. No surprise JLC is a student of JCC.

Clottey has no balls. He doesn't count.

This is absolutely true, the general state of, and lack of inside fighting these days is sad to see.
