Hopkins beats him up pretty bad. Whether in his prime at 160. or now at 170. Same result. Hops wide decision.

Also, for those sayin Martinez will get murdered - no way. Calzaghe beat Hopkins; Calzaghe may be bigger than Martinez, but he's not better. It would be a very interesting fight, and I could see it goin either way.
Well even though it seems that there's not too much difference there is actually. 2 pounds above 170 would mean that Maravilla would have to pack on 10 pounds to reach that weight. 10 pounds is a lot especially for a fighter that has a height of 5'10''.

In Hopkins case those 2 pounds would also make a huge difference. Right now he's 175, so to 170 he would only need to lose 5 pounds, but for 168 he would have to lose 7 pounds which actually makes a huge difference.

So at 170 the fight would be more inclined to Hopkins, who would have to lose 5 pounds, while Martinez would have to get up 10 pounds

At 168, it would be more even, as Maravilla should get 8 pounds more, while Hopkins should go down 7 pounds.

I agree about the money thing, there's not a lot of money in a fight between Martinez and a Super 6 fighter, the only fight that I see generating money could be Martinez - Froch in england. However there's a lot of recognition to get a Super 6 fighter AFTER the tournament ends, meanwhile Maravilla should fight a MW like Chavez Jr or a SMW that's out of Super 6, maybe Bute or Kessler, but I don't think Martinez will move up at the moment, he would have a lot of problems because of the weight and height difference.

Maravilla is calling out fighters such as Pacquiao and Mayweather because of the money, but a fight between Martinez and Chavez Jr would actually generate also a lot of money. Of course still I don't believe that Top Rank is going to allow Chavez Jr to get murdered.

Martinez should fight BHop instead of calling out small fighters.

I think it would go bad for B-Hop. Hops beats guys that try to box him like Winky, Tarver, and Pavlik did. Hops problem is with great athletes who happen to fight, like prime RJ, Calzaghe and Taylor. Taylor and Calzaghe just out worked him with thier athletisim, and Roy was Roy circa 1993. Martinez might be a little too small but I think he has the right tools for the 46 year old version of B-Hop.

You're right - he should go from being middleweight champ of the world with over 20 defenses, schooling the top of the next division up at light heavyweight in his 40's to cruiser/heavyweight.. simply because they have been smaller (which is questionable to begin with). You know what, they need to make a SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT, for 230lb fighters that are over 6'8 and B-Hop should move up to that to be the legitimate champion. Otherwise, **** him and his accomplishments.

thank you for not having me waste my time on that DUMB comment

Do it Sergio. That's the most money you're going to get in the next 8-12 months. Pavlik jumped up 10 pounds to fight him, do the same. start calling him out at 170 if you can both handle your business.

I don't know man, Sergio fights very similar to Pascal. He has no defense except for his feet. his fast feet is his defense. he just stays out of range, and then he jumps in "ambush" style like pascal.
although he has displayed he can lead with a nice jab too. but still if hopkins can get in range he will do work on sergio. sergio also doesn't have the stamina to handcuff Hop on the inside like calzaghe.
