man not men, margs is the only guy he let weigh in past 147.
still he fought for a junior middleweight (148-154 lbs) belt. martinez is willing to fight in that weight division, how is that not fair? manny should've never fought for a belt he couldn't defend.
    sam langford-heavyweight-5'6 1/2-record:178-32-40
    dwight muhammad qawi-light heavyweight-5'5 1/2-record:41-11-1

size (height) doesn't matter if you have the skills, right? manny is suppose to be the best fighter of all time according to some people now a days...doesn't matter if he was 102 or w/e he was back then, guy is walking around at 145-155ish lbs if i'm not mistaken...he can come in at 151-153 and outdo the heavier martinez, plus martinez will feel his punches & pac can take punches too, it's not like martinez is tyson...this fight can be made...i don't see it as his number 1 task because i'd rather see him unify the mw division, but it is possible for this fight to happen.
about that smw thing, i think he can make it comfortably. i'd want to see ward/martinez or even martinez/bhops if bhops would be willing to come down to 168, which i doubt, but yeah...

Dude first and foremost, fighter's fight. Manny wouldn't be Manny if he stays in the feather-weight and fought the "supposedly" the best challengers and beat them in that weight division 'till the day he retires. He will be remembered as a "good boxer" in the feather-weight but not an "All-Time Great." Weight jumping and fighting the "Best Possible Opposition" in the higher weight is required to make you stand-out among the rest and it also motivate you to improve because of the "new challenges". If this is the 80's with 3 recognized Boxing Organization(WBA, IBF & WBC), i bet that Manny will "clean the house" but the thing is... it is 2011, things have change, the rules have change, the game have change. The boxing organization and the state-athletic-commissions have made the rules. Did Manny violate any of them? Manny is the "little guy", an Asian... trying to get his "respect" againts the other much bigger dawgs in the neighborhood far away from his home and he has done it by beating them in their own back yard. What he did is not easy!

If Sergio wants to be recognized as the next P4P Best then he should do the same and challenge the much bigger guys and do what Manny did or do it even better so their are less "arm-chair experts" to bashed him during his time and get more love from the "hardcore" boxing fans?! But their are always "Haters" regardless of what he will do just like Manny because it's human nature.

Manny did not become #1 P4P boxer by accident or a stroke of luck. He did not become the #1 attraction in boxing by media hype or sensationalism. He did it by hard worked and dedication to his craft. People now are smart they recognized "god-given talent or skills" from the ordinary to the the extra-ordinary thats why he get the support thats needed. Those who can't recognized that are insanely ret@rded and id!ots who prefer fantasy more than reality. Give the man his Rightful Due!

Yes the fight should be made for Floyd-Pac and not Maravilla

Yes Pac could be the best fighter at lower weights ACTIVE in the world again at optimum Welter if higher it should not be a catchweight.

Remember Pac bcame champ from Fly and Floyd bcame champ Feathers they are lower weights again not Maravilla who started career at Welters and became champ at LM.

Bhop did to Pavlik 169 on that time Pavlik was a name, both Bhop and Maravilla beat Pavlik.

Again SMW as of now is not really bad for Maravilla.

Is that a 154 lineal? on Paper hes LM catchweight... again, if Martinez can fight @ 168 hes potential, hes not a small at SMW like i said like James Toney did.... LM-Middle as today are weak he need to moved on fight some pool talented or moneywise SMW.
I just think it is ridiculous to suggest that Martinez should jump to SMW.

He is clearly punching above his weight at middle.

Martinez should come down to 148lbs if he wants Manny so badly.

Don't you think he would, if he could do so safely? Too much money not to. Sheeeeeeeet!

                      That is absolute rubbish.

Many great fighters fought at one weight their entire career, especially under the old divisional system..... and so did every heavyweight.

That comes down to body-type / age, and nothing more.

A lot did fight within a span of divisions, and some were very successful, but most of those guys did it by beating genuinely larger opponents, Manny is not doing that. He is calling catchweight and/or jumping on them when they are faded and disadvantaged.

Divisional supremacy is far more impressive, Hopkins MW stretch beats any of Pac's accomplishments. He ruled for over a decade, and then started abusing larger opponents who were a genuine threat.

                      RUBBISH !!

That is exactly how Pacquiao became the P4P #1 as well as the #1 WW.

*** me, TheRing had Pacquiao rated the #1 welter when Manny had never even fought a within the divisional limit of 147

Wake up, Pac is a manufactured fighter with a very carefully crafted resume'.

He is the Danny Green of the welterweight division.

He is a terrific fighter, but I aint drinkin the kool-aid.
