Dude first and foremost, fighter's fight. Manny wouldn't be Manny if he stays in the feather-weight and fought the "supposedly" the best challengers and beat them in that weight division 'till the day he retires. He will be remembered as a "good boxer" in the feather-weight but not an "All-Time Great." Weight jumping and fighting the "Best Possible Opposition" in the higher weight is required to make you stand-out among the rest and it also motivate you to improve because of the "new challenges". If this is the 80's with 3 recognized Boxing Organization(WBA, IBF & WBC), i bet that Manny will "clean the house" but the thing is... it is 2011, things have change, the rules have change, the game have change. The boxing organization and the state-athletic-commissions have made the rules. Did Manny violate any of them? Manny is the "little guy", an Asian... trying to get his "respect" againts the other much bigger dawgs in the neighborhood far away from his home and he has done it by beating them in their own back yard. What he did is not easy!

If Sergio wants to be recognized as the next P4P Best then he should do the same and challenge the much bigger guys and do what Manny did or do it even better so their are less "arm-chair experts" to bashed him during his time and get more love from the "hardcore" boxing fans?! Manny did not become #1 P4P boxer by accident or a stroke of luck. He did not become the #1 attraction in boxing by media hype or sensationalism. He did it by hard worked and dedication to his craft. People now are smart they recognized "god-given talent or skills" from the ordinary to the the extra-ordinary thats why he get the support thats needed. manny wouldn't clean any "house". he didn't defend his lightweight, light welterweight, and light middleweight belt, let alone defended his welterweight belt against a punching bag and a shot fighter, and now a blown up lightweight. wtf does being asian have to do with disadvantages or proofing himself? he is only "little" in height, his reach and fight night weight up to cotto has been more if not the same. dlh to now are not big "dawgs", manny has made WW comfortably if not losing weight to make it, height and weight don't matter if they suck and manny has power and speed over them. manny has been fighting in the U.S since 2001 and lives in LA!!! margs is mexican, cotto is rican, hatton is british, and clottey is african, if anything, this is his backyard, fail man....
so martinez needs to do what manny did and fight bigger guys with catchweights in order to be p4p the best? he'll just get more criticism than he already has. he can fight at jmw and mw, perhaps try unifying some belts, most of his opponents have been taller than him, or will be....but like you said, there will always be haters.
pac did have some luck/help reaching the top, he had scumbag arum set up title or big named fights along with catchweights...he wouldn't have reached fame as fast as he did if dlh never gave him that shot. if he had god given talents he wouldn't have backed out of the blood tests in the 1st negotiation of the mayweather fight would he? or be wanting catchweights against his opponents to have a slight advantage....they would both make weight and manny would flat out whoop em...i'm a fan of manny, but his recent army of fans who see him as God, and bash martinez for calling him out when he in fact they both fought in the same weight class is ******ed. martinez is an inch shorter than margs but is too big even if he weighs in at the jmw limit....cmon man

He is clearly punching above his weight at middle.

I dont think it take a lot toll for Maravilla for this time as SMW, remember he fought half of his career at Welters and the other half for LM i guess for 10+ years, In 160 he did good by beating bigger man like Dzinsurik or PWill... really he's age and growth the thing is normal for Maravilla... he is so underated to some people specially his K.O ratio but the guy can punch. Again LM-Middle as now are very weak division unless hes playin waiting game for a Floyd or Pac to come out @ 154...I think hell be weaken, like he did Dzinzuric who is a 154 belt holder who fought Maravilla above 154@ and not @ 154...i doubt Maravilla will go down at 154 at this time.

Well FYI, marquez and pacquiao has the same height(actually marquez is taller than pac) and weight during fight night(a pound or pounds). So what's your point?

pavlik fought them in two different divisions..that's like hatton vs margs.
martinez weighed in at 159 1/2 for pavlik (same weight). bhops came in at 170 for pavlik(169). that's a 10 1/2 pound difference.

plus bhops is fighting at 175 now. unless bhops meets him at 168, i wouldn't wanna see it.
