Ask Manny Pacquiao, who was given the #1 P4P spot after beating Oscar De La Hoya, a guy who was no where near the top 10 P4P list, or even a top 10 at WW.
Floyd was #1 P4P and Pacquiao was #2 but then Floyd "retired". So Pacquiao was elevated to #1.

Sergio must atleast call some of the top guys at SMW for a catchweight fights. People need to realise that Sergio is a small MW similar to Pacquiao (small WW) and he can't make a full SMW. Saying so he need to beat the bigger guys.

hopefully he can land a fight with cotto and chavez jr, get some attention on him, and move onto pirog, n'jikam, & other top MWs. if manny doesn't want to proof his 8 division status and fight the best opponent at 154, then why should martinez move up to 168? **** the haters, he's doing enough to be a top fighter instead of manny fighting an older blown up marquez. i'll laugh if bradley is an actual opponent for manny after marquez, that's the shittiest option he can choose.

sergio beat an unranked mw in his last fight...pac beating shane at ww is better than that win period....marinez is overratd right now, thats not to say he's not a good figfhter tho....

I think he needs to beat a few of the best smws, and then he would be undisputed p4p number 1, and im sure ring would back this up.

But it all depends on the question. Are you asking what would he have to do to be the official p4p best on the rankings or what does he have to do to be considered p4p by us personally? Cuz those are two different things.

boxing doesn't need more catchweights, there will just be more people criticizing martinez then there already are. he can make smw, but he still has formidable opponents to face at 160, and has an option to face pretty big names at 154. plus, sergio already faces taller guys than him. weight doesn't matter if your opponent isn't worth a damn, there is no point in facing guys at 168 unless they're the top guys in the division....if they give martinez a shot, i'd want to see it too, but no catchweights...

would you rather have a fighter who's coming up in weight but is younger/taller than you? or a fighter who is proven old & shot (plus runs away the whole night)? plus martinez stopped dzinziruk, manny went to a decision.

shane being shot is a ****ing opinion ...it is baseless....shane being ranked at ww# 3 is a fact same as segiey being unranked at mw.....id rather deal with facts if you know what i mean......lol

I understand the criticism with catchweight fights but I think the only way Martinez is gonna fight a SMW is with catchweight. I doubt he's gonna fight a full SMW without catchweight but props to him if he does and let alone beat them.
