What defines legend? I've seen countless articles call hopkins a legend, the HBO crew, the Showtime crew, Ring Magazine, Yahoo, ESPN, they've all called him a legend. I guess it depends on how you definite it but he's done some legendary things, quite clearly. 20 MW title defenses going undefeated for 12 years - legendary. Moving up to LHW at age 41 and fighting the Man and winning - legendary. Winning a worldchampionship at 46 - legendary.

If you guys aren't impressed with Hopkins' career, then I don't know what impresses you. There are really no one in boxing right now that have accomplishment more, except probably Pacquiao and one or two other guys.
So you would agree to call Joe Calzaghe "legendary"??

that's not stuff legends are made of???????????
Like I asked Natas, is Joe Calzaghe a legend too for having a lot of title defenses as well??

What Hopkins did was great at 46. Props for that and his title defenses at MW. He's a great boxer. My opinion, don't like it too bad.

Oh yea I forgot about Ottke. Him and Calzaghe are legends like BHop as well for their defenses. TY

Forgot about Darius Michalzwski or however you freaking spell it, he's a legend too.

didn't he have like 23 defenses? he was just on another level. omar narvaez had like 16 as well but then he destroyed his all time greatness by moving up in weight.

like daggum said is sven ottke? I think hopkins has the better resume, but even if you don't consider his MW reign legendary (first person to unify the division since hagler, owning all of the belts (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF & The Ring), add everything else I stated all together and that's legendary. I mean seriously, hopkins has had a fantastic career.

but like I also said it depends on how you define legendary.

Why the better resume? Cause those opponents were marketed by the American Media? That's what it looks like to me.

Again, mad props and what he did at MW apart from beating on little men was a "great" thing that he did.

Didn't Calzaghe do the same thing at 168 by winning all the belts? Yet he is called a bum for doing the same thing like Hopkins.

What Hopkins has done is very good ATG. Who knows, maybe after his career is over and he keeps doing what he did with Pascal, he might be a legend after all. Again, that's just my opinion.

Calzaghe is an ATG, at the very least a 1st ballot HOFer.

Who has called Calzaghe a bum..........the only reason Calzaghe gets heat is because his fans say he is a top 20 ATG and is better than Hopkins, just because he beat him,.....but I dont know how a guy who is regarded as the GOAT at SMW is also seen as a bum........

A lot of people!! Even towards true Calzaghe fans that never claimed Joe as a top 20 ATG. In fact all this top 20 is nothing but bull**** since you can't just judge a boxer on just what you read. Some of the old greats have no fights on video so no one can make a good assessment.

Some people even don't view Calzaghe as a great even at his own weight which is a shame.
