He and Warren both want the immediate rematch, unsurprisingly.

He looked horrible and sloppy last night..
Groves fought a very good fight
But saying that i can't score it more then 1 or 2 rounds for Groves (Degale should have lost points for fouls though). Which would probably mean if Degale sorts himself out he takes a win in a rematch
I wonder how bad this loss will hurt Degale though -
CBA to type out my full thoughts on the fight tonight, I'll do it tomorrow. But DeGale was found lacking in drive and daring (intangibles required in significant amounts in a fight like this) and put himself in a position to lose with his seeming contentment to enter the lottery of the scorecards.
The outcome was frustratingly inconclusive. I wanted a KO, either way.
I'd rather see the guys fight again immediately, because a rematch could be irrelevant in 2 or 3 years.Comment

DeGale looks gutted.
I hope this loss teaches him some humility and respect. I was a Groves fan last night, but DeGale is still a proud Brit and Olympic Gold medalist so if he gets his act together he will have my support going forward. He is immensely talented, so he should learn from this defeat and come back stronger. I'm still of the belief that DeGale will be a world champion one day and I'm sure he will prove me right.
Losses are the makings of good fighters and not the end.Comment

And, despite the very cagey spells, it was a pretty fun, exciting fight.
A repeat would be more good experience for the pair of them.Comment

Yer, just watched this on Youtube before you posted it on here. Frank does make me laugh, the ****e he comes out with.
I choked on me Horlicks when he whipped out 'The general consensus' line.
Give me next weeks Euro Millions numbers while you're at it Frank.Comment

I think he'll be an alphabet titlist, not a legit champion, unless the division is weak around the time he might be contending for honors.DeGale looks gutted.

DeGale is overrated by British posters here. He's talented, but people talk about him like he's in some Toney/Mayweather line of pedigree. Their level of craft is what he's aspiring towards, but it's not necessarily a level he can ever actually get onto, more something to aim for and measure himself by. If you want an example of young fighter who is everything DeGale wants to be in terms of craft, take a good look at Andre Ward.
I'd still expect DeGale to learn from the first fight and stop Groves in a rematch. A lot of things I expected played out in the fight. DeGale just played too safe in too many rounds, which he couldn't afford to do as the aggressor.
If they fight again and DeGale doesn't come with a lot more determination and drive to get the job done, I'd think that even future paper-titlist might be stretching it, whether he gets the good end of a decision or not.Comment

LOOOOOL, George fought smart and disciplined and showed more drive in fighting his fight than DeGale did in fighting his. He did all the things he needed to do to the best of his ability, while DeGale didn't do enough of what he needed to do.
I don't buy DeGale's 'surprise' at the strategy of Groves. He must have been prepared to be the aggressor and to have to stalk Groves down.Comment
