Calzaghe outboxed hopkins, he was landing more, controlled the fight and was the aggressor, the fact even leading journos and pundits had calzaghe winning shows how thick you really are

Calzaghe landed 232 punches in that fight, hopkins landed 127, use you head for christ sake
    Are you serious?
Winning a disputed SD against a 43 year old is not outboxing..
Punch stats dont mean anything, there are numeruos videos on Youtube doing a proper punchstats, and Hopkins landed far more power punches.
Calzaghe landed a ridiculous amount of slaps on hopkins arms.

i aint a fan of either, but seriously dude, joe is a joke

This thread is correct. He didn't beat Hopkins. He got a gift from air punches that didn't hit the target.

Wow the Hopkins/ jealous yanks are out in force in this thread.

Just because the only black and woman judge on the panel scored it for Hopkins it doesn't make it true. The only margin you could have Hopkins winning by is 114-113 which is a draw without the KD and that's giving Hopkins all the close rounds which means bias, widest for Joe is 116-111, so consensus is Calzaghe won.

There has been similar cases happen before. How about Chad Dawson in the first fight against Glen Johnson because after all, Johnson is from Florida if you want to go by not countries but where each fighter lives. Same thing applies with Calzaghe-Hopkins.

You must have missed Chavez-Whitaker. This thread is ******. Hopkins is obviously still a very skilled fighter and extremely smart in the ring. But he's not in his prime now or when he fought Calzaghe. His reflexes, punches, stamina, punch output and resistance have all diminished. Which makes him even more remarkable.

Calzaghe deserves some credit but deserves no credit for beating a prime Hopkins because he didn't. Using that logic Jermaine Taylor deserves more credit because he beat a younger version of Hopkins twice.

the crowd was 99 percent pro calzaghe and obviously influenced the judges by going crazy everytime calzaghe swung and hit air. calzaghe-jones was also all but done on hbo ppv if calzaghe won. let's not pretend like calzaghe wasn't the guy getting backed in this fight.

why is that the only margin? because you say so? he outlanded calzaghe by a wide margin in 7 rounds in the fight while barely getting hit himself. why should calzaghe win those rounds because he's throwing a bunch of punches that miss? calzaghe just got outboxed for most of the fight. only thing you can say which has nothing to do with scoring is hopkins held and faked low blows but calzaghe did that against bika so i guess bika beat calzaghe right? oh wait its time to list the compubox numbers how calzaghe landed 230 punches and 40 percent of his punches so we can all laugh again.
