It's towards the end of their careers, so they decide to finally step up their competition. They fight and beat someone like an overrated Lacy, a shot Andre Ward, someone like Kessler, and some other old fighter. Then their fans go on about how they were ATG's because they defended the belt for 10 years and they didn't get enough credit etc.

But of course they didn't take that road, they took the tough road and fought tough fighters in their primes and lost.

That's how I view the whole Calzaghe situation. Guys like Ward, Kessler Abraham, etc. all fought against the best to try to become the best.
So wait a second... How is Abraham some monster all of a sudden still? I thought he got exposed as being pretty one dimensional at 168 lbs. Taylor couldn't even beat a shot Lacy anywhere close to the way Calzaghe dismantled a Prime Champion Lacy and well.. Kessler lost in a wide margin to Calzaghe.

calzaghe was already slowing down by the lacy fight. Watch his earlier fights like against eubank and youll see blurring handspeed nearly impossible for a 168 pound man, faster than most flyweights.

I'm not comparing the fighters, I'm comparing their situations.

People thought guys like JT, Kessler, Abraham etc. were all going to be GREAT fighters but once they finally stepped up in competition they lost. Imagine if Abraham was still undefeated, JT, Kessler, etc.

JT, Kessler, Abraham were all going down the same road by fighting bums, and if they stayed on that road they'd still be undefeated today but they didn't. Do you remember how invincible they looked prior to losing?

Calzaghe on the other hand stayed on that road of beating average fighters, while guys like JT, Kessler and Abraham went off that road and stepped up their competition against elite fighters.

If guys like JT, Abraham, Kessler and others did the exact same thing that Calzaghe did their fans would be all over their nuts like Joe's fans are. They'd all be considered ATG's.

Prime Jones @ smw would have destroyed Joe. Sick KO and all. There was no way to outbox Roy at that weight in that period in time. The way Joe fights he would have gotten annihilated.

Joe is a legend. Could have done more had he come to America more/earlier, but the the legacy left by his beating Lacy, Eurbank, and Kessler, defending his titles countless times, and capping his career with Bhop and Roy will do just fine.

blurring hand speed. the dude is apparently so fast that you think he's landing punches when he's really not. oh well at least it looks like he is to the judges and that's all that matters.

Carl Froch and Andre Ward put Joe to shame.

You think Joe would have ever joined the "Super Six" ?

If you liked Joe, you guys must think the likes of Sven Ottke are boxing legends lol
