  • My Top 10 Heavyweights of All Time

    1. Joe Louis
    2. Catskills Tyson
    3. Larry Holmes
    4. Muhammad Ali
    5. George Foreman
    6. Joe Frazier
    7. Jack Dempsey
    8. Sonny Liston
    9. Rocky Marciano
    10. Floyd Patterson

Louis would of knocked out Ali in my opinion, he would of either caught up with him eventually and landed the right cross in one of the last few rounds or used the right tactics to get him with the left hook in any round. You can run but you can't hide, start from the centre of the ring and it takes three steps to get Ali to the ropes, jab with Ali while holding your right glove high and chin tucked under your shoulder and you kill his rythm. You kill his rythm if you jab as he jabs. Ali didn't know how to block or parry whereas Louis did, Ali was a sucker for a good left jab. Louis would cut the ring off and get him on the ropes, he cuts the ring off better than anybody Ali has seen, when Ali is on the ropes against a six-inch hitter in very close to him he has nowhere to go because he is so tall and rangy, so as Ali drops his right hand to deliver the uppercut Louis would deliver the knockout drops with the left hook.

I would say that the only fighter a Catskills Tyson would lose to is the Ali that fought Liston, THAT Ali is the one fighter that Tyson may of had a problem with. I can see Tyson bobbing and weaving to get inside while Ali is sharper than sharp by backing off or side-stepping while peppering him with quick counters. It is the punches that you don't see coming that hurt you or stun you most, and with Tyson being peek-a-boo he isn't stationary enough to vision when Ali's punches will come. It might not even last very long at all.

Louis is over Tyson in my list on longevity.

Larry Holmes was more complete than Ali in my opinion, he jabbed better than Ali, he punched to both body and head, he had a better defence and much better fundamentals. He could dance and move like Ali, but with a more powerful right hand that came over without any warning. He also had more longevity than Ali.

I think because Holmes beat Ali when Ali was totally shot and Tyson beat Holmes when Holmes was slightly past his very best, people kind of are biased towards the losers if you know what I mean. But when you view it with an open-mind, I honestly see Holmes beating any version of Ali and Castkills Tyson beating any version of Holmes.

Lennox Lewis?? No way. He was losing every round to Frank Bruno before a lucky punch, clearly lost to Ray Mercer, knocked out by Oliver McCall, knocked out by Hasim Rahman, and made his name by beating up an ancient Holyfield and a very, very ancient Tyson, and he even lost the second fight against the washed up Holyfield and was losing against Klitschko.

McCall and Rahman are very ordinary fighters who knocked out Lewis, and Tyson was in better shape against Williams and McBride than he was against Lewis.

In terms of talent and cutting edge, Lewis was just not in the same class as the guys on my list. Patterson's speed and skills make Lewis look like a sack of ****.

I know you don't like Lennox Lewis... And it might influence your opinion, but you gotta pay credit where credit is due.

Sure Lennox Lewis got knocked out by the limited McCall and Rahman... But he made it his mission to get those guys back in the ring to reverse it, and if that shows anything it shows that Lewis had great courage.

There are a lot of fighters that avoid facing guys again in that position.

So by doing this... Lennox Lewis beat every man he ever faced in the professional ring. Couple that with him winning the Olympic gold and dominating the heavyweight division for nearly a decade.

Lennox Lewis was one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, and I feel lucky to have been around to watch him live.

You know what amuses me most about you?

You obviously have been watching a lot of boxing for a long time, but every time you start threads like this about what you think, it's more and more obvious it's what you've convinced yourself of and I think you know its convoluted and outlandish.

It seems to be for shock value more than anything else.

All I can say about your list, and half of the other non sense you talk about, is that deep down inside, you know you're wrong.

Would you like to be more specific?

No, I wouldn't, I think I summed it up pretty nicely.

I can only rank fighters I seen alot of. So I cant really rank Marciano and Louis.

Since the late 60's I think the best heavyweights are.

                  In order

                  Larry Holmes
                  Muhammad Ali
                  George Foreman
                  Joe Frazier
                  Evander Holyfield
                  Mike Tyson
                  Lennox Lewis

                    Tyson gets murdered by Ali.
                    Holmes gets murdered by Ali...

I'm surprised Eubank isn't on that list.
