First off it wouldn't put that to rest. Had Ray Edwards put his full attention towards boxing as a little kid you don't know what he could of been. Secondly, anyone with an ounce of knowledge would realize that the best athletes for boxing are in the NBA, not the NFL.

Had anybody put his full attention towards boxing as a little kid, they might have been the next superstar. Or they might not. Since they never actually boxed it's impossible to say. The whole crux of the unutterably ******ed and flimsy NFL (and NBA) argument rests on uprovable suppositions, since it just assumes that the type of people excelling in the sport today would have excelled in boxing had they trained in it as kids. It's nothing more than an excuse to make certain Americans feel better about their poor standing in the heavyweight division today and does nothing to actually improve the situation as it stands.

So yes, it should be put to rest. But of course it won't be.

No way he is faster than Ali or hits harder than Tyson. What these guys don't realize is it takes years of training to fight on the elite level and no football player is coming in here and winning the heavyweight championship like Lesnar did in UFC.
