This is also why fantasy fights are completely useless to debate. All of our opinions (including mine) are biased or completely baseless.
Physical training and diet , it would be improved thats the point I was making , who said anything about their whole career , its like a racehorse from old and conditioned by today standards he would gain a few lengths just on the conditioning .

Completely agree with your last comment .

I haven't seen many fights where Armstrong boxed. If he fights in his in your face perpetual motion style, Pac of today would have fun with that. I'd pick him to win a decision in a tough fight. It's hard to tell for sure, I'd say Pac is definitely faster and just as strong.

People make these men out to be invincible. Armstrong's record and style is very impressive, that doesn't mean in head to head matchups he always wins. Pac matches up very well with brawlers.

and what does Pacquiao eat? rice, chicken, watermelon. Oh yea, those werent invented in the past. super advanced nutrition.

If the nutrtional was so much different, athletes from 3rd world countries that grew up eating anything they could get their hands on(ie Pacquiao) wouldnt exist, it would be the ones that grew up with amazing nutrition.
so he did it against bums? impressive.
Off the top of my head weight training was avoided like a virus from the past fighters because of the myth it will slow you down. Roadwork was practiced but in a much more ineffective way then it is now, although there are cases of it still being used this way (say running 7 or so miles at a jog and they considered this to be helpful). Looking back at those fighters it is amazing how many of them have the same style as well.

If you really think nutritional knowledge hasn't been incredibly advanced from now compared to 60 or 70 years ago then you just need to educate yourself on the topic. But an example would be the repulsive way old school fighters would make weight by essentially starving themselves or working them until exhaustion.

And now that you bring up the example of Pacquiao lets discuss it... when was Pacquiao's worst point in his career? The beginning when he was KO'd several times and trained in a 3rd world country with limited resources.

Now when did his career explode into making him a superstar. Well that would be when he trained with Freddie Roach to bring more advanced knowledge to him. Also with Alex Ariza an excellent nutritionist who effectively moved him up in weight while he still fought at level to keep his speed.
