I'm from St. Louis and I've been a fan since I was a kid. I boxed a little bit at a couple community centers (Wohl's and Tandy's) but I admittedly wasn't very good. The love stuck with me though. My family were huge fight fans. So in my household the Finger brothers were just as identifiable as Ozzie Smith was. My first huge fight I watched was Leonard vs Hagler. Attended the Olympic Trials boxing matches when it was held in St. Louis in the 90's. And I still attend boxing matches whenever I can. Even drove down to Springfield, Missouri to watch Diego Corrales last fight against Clottey. That's why I don't understand people who are soley fans of boxers. Be a fan of boxing.

My grandfather was into judo and boxing in the Philippines before coming here so when he immigrated here family parties usually involved the big fights in the 70's. First fights I remember were Tyson fights (too young to remember the early 80's) which our family always had showing.

Grandpa was a DLH fan throughout his career so naturally, saw some of those fight but when I was a teenager kinda fell away from the sport until a co-worker of mine introduced me to a little Filipino guy that just Barrera. Been back into the sport since.

You've probaly heard of my pops then, his name is Vincent Webb fought at 139. He fought out of West End and Wellston. And yes, I know Lavell and Terrell, I've been to plenty of their local fights.

Like many as a kid watching Rocky movies, and Mike Tyson fight got me interested. It really helped that my entire family made a sporting event out of watching Chavez boxing matches. Those days are engraved in my mind.

Since i was a kid growing up in Philippines in the 80's. I remember staying late just to see Rolando Navarrette fight. Moved to the US at when i was 12. All the boxing info i get was from newspapers and local tv when they use to show it. I remember the Carbajal-Gonzales fight at KCAL 9 here in Los Angeles. Lost out of touch with boxing when i was in the Marines. But i still remember reading Morris East in Pinoy sport magazines that they send to us, including Pacquiao when he won his first title.

Have Direct TV and internet helps a lot in following boxing.
