  • How did you get into boxing?

For me, growing up in a "fight town" (Brockton, MA.) led me to be very interested in boxing. I would always read the magazines (KO, Ring, etc..) whenever I could get them. I was just fascinated with all things boxing. The first fight I remember just having to see was the first fight between Leonard and Hearns. A man down the street had the fight showing in his house (and me being only 11) I could not go with my Dad to see it. Growing up, the Middleweight Champion was from my town (Hagler), a former undefeated Heavyweight Champion (Marciano) was from my town, so I just grew up with it all around me.

30 years later, I'm as into boxing as ever.

How about you, how did you get into boxing?

I just happened to watch Jason Gavern vs Travis Walker one day flipping channels. I loved the style contrasts, and thats what got me into boxing.

not a legendary fight, not even super exciting. no KO. in fact, it was a draw. but seeing that boxing was so multidimensional and not just based around 1 style and a few core attributes made me really interested in it.

No specific time. I've liked the sport itself since being a kid but never really followed it until the last 3 years or so. I don't remember which fight pushed me full boar but I gradually just started following it more and more...

People in my family were what you would call casual fans. So the first fight I saw as a kid was a Tyson fight, I had to have been about 6 or 7. I stuck with boxing ever since and am probably the only one in my family that watches it all the time now.

Caught a countdown on HBO. The back story between the fighters made it sound interesting and the fight itself did not disappoint. Been following boxing since then and ended up taking up boxing myself. Best sport in the world.

My father and his entire side of the family are boxing fans/boxers/fighters italian newyorkers. Boxing was on the TV in my house 24/7 so I had to watch it. I didn't consider myself a boxing fan until 14-15 years old, thats when I started watching it by myself and getting into street fights. I join a boxing gym and I get addicted to punching people and just throwing hands in general.

Loved the sport as a kid and always watched it when my dad was.

I bought issues of Ring Magazine and learned a lot about the sport as a kid. Watched Tuesday Night Fights every week, as well as whatever big fights were on ESPN, HBO, and Showtime.

Didn't start getting more into the history of the sport until about 4-5 years ago when I finally got the internet at home. I started watching and reading about a lot of classic fights, pre-1980s.
