Cotto would fight Martinez but Arum is desperately trying to keep his cash cows intact. Arum doesn't want Chavez or Cotto anywhere near Martinez at any weight.

nobody is touching Martinez period, he's just too dangerous.
I thought I remembered Arum offering 5 mil to Sergio but the fight was only to be promoted by TR? 5 mil minus Shaw's cut for not promoting a fight would have left Sergio with a career high payday. Shaw is great at arranging fights, but, not at making huge events. He should've backed down and let Martinez get exposure for future fights by possibly beating Cotto. If I'm correct I wouldn't consider that "low balling" Sergio.

I don't remember reading that, do you have a link? It's DiBella that Sergio's is signed to btw.

Cotto wins this fight handily imo, Miguel would have too much of a foot/hand speed advantage, better timing and JCC Jr cannot hook with a deadly left hook artist like Miguel. But, this would be terrible career decision as well for Cotto. Jr middle has more options for Miguel: possible unifications vs Bundrage or Dzinziruk, a ring title vs Cintron, possible future mega-fights vs Ortiz or Alvarez, or even Berto moving up, Margarito II or even Pacquiao II if deemed a worthy fight. Maybe even a comeback fight for Floyd. Cotto has never cleaned out a division or unified titles, why not try to claim Jr middle first?

I have to laugh at some of you thinking this would be a walk in the park for Cotto.

JCC Jr is a lagit 160lber and does come forward. I think Cotto wins, but it won't be easy. It would be a grueling fight and Jr would come prepared and have 3 training camps with Roach...

Let's be real here, Cotto doesn't anything to do with Martinez and I don't blame him. It wouldn't even be a fair fight.

Money people....MONEY!!!! That's what boxing is all about. Jr, Margarito make the most sense for Cotto, we all know this.

PR vs Mexico puts butts in the seats.

I hear you man, but I just think Cotto outboxes JCC Jr while taking his share of punishment too. Jr is just wide with his punches and would in-fight too much with Cotto negating his height/reach advantage. Cotto's one of my favourite fighters but he loses 9 out of 10 fights @ 160 with Sergio.

Call me crazy but I think Chavez jr is a durable fighter... At 160 he is a big kid who will probably weigh about 175lbs come fight night. Cotto is the better fighter but Cotto to me, has no business at 154 to begin with. I think Cotto should win but anything is poss at 160lbs.

Chavez jr. will KO Cotto and will end his career. Cotto is dun. didnt even sell 7000 tickets vs Mayorga. Jr. will outclass Cotto and KO him plus will outsell Cotto in tickets sales.
