Shane has been shot since the Mayorga fight. And yes, I believe he was even shot against Margo. It's just that Margo was a good a style match up for him, he had a good gameplan, and coupled with the fact that Margo's mental focus was completely thrown out the window for that fight. I can almost guarantee you if those two rematched, Mosley is not stopping him the 2nd time around. The mental aspect is huge in boxing, and Margo's was down to zero when he entered that ring. The term dead man walking was fitting for him on that night.

I didn't think he was successful at all in this fight. His jab was basically used a stick to keep Pac off of him when Pac got close. He never used his jab to set up any sort of offense, it was used primarily for survival. He wasn't dominated the way he was with Floydie because he never stood his ground against Pacquiao. Against Floydie he was still there in front of him, albeit he was shaking like a salt shaker. Against Pacquiao he was basically just running to survive for the last 9 rounds. He was unwilling to engage because he was afraid of Manny's punching power. When has Shane ever been afraid to mix it up against anyone in fear of being KO'd? No one before this fight, not even against Vernon when Vernon almost lobotomized him with that right hand in their first fight.

And that's basically my beef with Shane. Shane was a warrior before last night. He's fought the best boxing had to offer and not once have I ever seen him afraid to get into a firefight against anyone. Shane was a fighter that wanted the action. And at the very least I expected him to provide that.

I don't think anyone was asking him to take the beating Margo fight, they were just asking him to fight. If he got KO'd then so be it, but at least try to win the fight and actually fight the man. And that's what pissed me off the most. He f'n mailed it in after the 3rd round and basically just gave up trying to win.

He would have been better off just staying down after the KD in the 3rd if he was just going to avoid contact for the last 9 rounds.
      Exactly

With Manny, he knew that if he did anything other than back up and jab, he'd get KO'd, no chance of winning.
While with Floyd, he knew that if he did anything other than try and land bombs, he'd get outboxed, no chance at winning. The difference is obviously based on the punching power of both opponents, which should come to a surprize to no one

And, STILL, the average pac-fan will not understand how important it is for a fighter to be on top of his game. Even Josh "the punching bag" Clottey outlanded an old man who could no longer pull the trigger.

Lucky for pac-fan's Freddie and Manny understand how important that is

everyone comes into the ring with a plan to beat pac,but so far every plan has failed miserably. pacs workrate is simply staggering and mindblowing. if you try to exchange pac destroys you. if you go defensive you just lose. tbh right now pac is a true monster.marquez has little chance as it is. and please stop mentioning floyd. floyd is inactive and calling him will accomplish nothing.

I think you have the right point here. I've noticed in the past that Mosley, when things are not going right for him, is reduced to single shots and a lot of feinting. It looks actually if he doesn't know what to try or do. I've noticed that since the Winky Wright fight.

He should retire for his health's sake. i think it may be already too late. I recall being quite surprised when I saw the video where he was gigin evidence about the Balco stuff and his speech was slurred then. That was the first time I notice this with him. It must be much worse by now.

And yet, only last week he said he feels great and could fight for several years longer yet.

¿What the hell is wrong with Shane?¿Is he now paranoid? He said he saw openings in Pacquiao's defense, but didn't take shots at them, CAUSE HE THOUGHT THEY WERE TRAPS!! Hellooooo, that's what u train for, when u see those openings u take shots at those openings & that's how punches are scored!!! Shane should just retire!!

Pacquiao is actually extremely hard to hit when he doesn't want to be hit. He has the best headmovement and foot work of any fighter today.

I thought Shane snuck in a few rights in the first couple rounds, boxed well and brought the pace down to his liking. But then he got decked in the 3rd and from there on I think he just wanted to extend the chess match portion of the fight...

He wasn't countering effectively. He ran, didn't engage and didn't make Manny pay for initiating the attack. Manny was given a gift.

I hate to say it because I respect Shane a lot, but when you're guaranteed $5 mil and you foresee a beating, I can see how the warrior mentality could quickly dissipate.

That may be true but if you come to win ur plan can change and u find the best way to win. Neways the truth is that the only game plan I've heard from any of the guys hes fought lately is I'm bigger stronger and i think I hav the power to knock him out. That's why Marquez has a way better chance of beating pacquiao then any other fighter he has fought since. Marquez is going in with a real plan and a real belief that he can win 12 rounds. Will it work? Not now to many years and to much weight for Marquez I think. But I believe Marquez is going to give Pacquiao a lot of trouble still!
