Tell you what : If Jr. beats Cotto and it's anything other than an outright robbery, I'll start taking him seriously and bet I'm not the only one.

Seems like a big step up, but if team Chavez Jr. thinks he's ready for it, hell yeah!

    Let's see it.

if Cotto goes up to 160, he should have no problem beating Chavez but at the same time no problem fighting Martinez, which i wouldnt mind happening at all if he looks decent and effective at 160.

Chavez has to beat Zbik which won't be as easy as you guys think.

Cotto/Jr at 160lb to much weight disparity for non sense. Where is Martinez in all this anyway?

Sergio Martinez: "I Will Not Allow Chavez Jr. To Escape"

BoxingScene.com was advised by middleweight king Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs) that he plans to target the winner of the June 4th clash between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and WBC champion Sebastian Zbik. Martinez, currently relaxing in Madrid, Spain, is planning to sit ringside to watch Chavez-Zbik at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Califonia.

Following the fight's conclusion, Martinez will exercise his right, as the WBC's "Emeritus Champion" - to get an immediate, direct shot at the winner.

Based on what BoxingScene was told, Zbik is already on board to face Martinez next, but no reply has been issued from the Chavez camp.

"I will not allow Chavez Jr. to escape" - is the word from Martinez.

If Chavez defeats Zbik, and refuses to fight Martinez, then a petition will be started with the WBC to get the Mexican boxer stipped. If he gets stripped, Martinez is willing to fight the next available contender for the vacant belt, which is Marco Antonio Rubio - who upset knockout king David Lemieux to earn his position. Martinez wants to reclaim the belt he was forced to vacate when accepting a rematch with Paul Williams in 2010.

"I don't care about the opponent, I want my WBC title," Martinez said.

Also funny how there's now reply from the Top Rank camp with regards to Martinez fighting the winner of Chavez Jr and Zbik, then Arum announces this.

I'll bet. Arum's strategy= Trying to get 140 million Mexicans interested by promoting Mexs vs Ricans and or Filipinos to make up for the Mexican fighters he lost to Golden boy.

I dont see too many skills, but the guy have a good chin a half decent jab and will have like 20+ pounds over Cotto 5" in height and 3" in reach, plus 6 years younger.

I think Arum is trying to get rid of Cotto again since this will be Cottos last fight in his current contract with TR!!!!!
