Give me one example. Just one. The Griffith film the TS mentions is just one example of a boxing docu that craps all over Soul Of A Champion (although I think movies and docus should occupy seperate lists).

And there are tons of crappy movies that win Academy awards. Although, I would agree that Rocky is more than just a "nice feel good movie"...and I'm not predisposed to praise the Rocky franchise or anything Stallone does in general.

I also strongly disagree with physiker's implied suggestion that boxing movies have more worth if they're based on 'real events'.
I know you're going to continue to claim you have regardless, but i honestly don't believe you've seen "Floyd Mayweather: Soul Of A Champion".

In fact i'd bet my house on it.

However i'll be willing to look past that and leave your thread in peace if you watch the highly inspirational "Floyd Mayweather: Soul Of A Champion". Something tells me after you're finished watching you'll come back to this thread and revise your list.
OK, I will re-consider it, if I can get some more opinions, Ballistic has already opined that it's not too good. Would like a thid opinion.

For someone who is neutral on all boxers except maybe Ali, I'd like to know if this is liked by other than Floyd fans?

Did you see Ring of Fire?

There are things I like about Rocky. But it isn't so untouchable a work that I'd consider its exclusion from a Top 3 unforgivable, even within the genre of boxing movies.

It might not make my 3...probably wouldn't. Nor would another ubiquitous one in Raging Bull (a huge critical favorite of the last 30 years). All I know is The Set-Up would be my #1.
Unless you've taken in a lot of the genre (boxing movies), it's not really smart to impose your opinion on others as if they were definitive or unarguable.

But I agree that Hurricane isn't all that. TBH, I find the biopics to be among the least worthy candidates, generally.

Noooo, it's good for what it is. I'd encourage anyone with an interest to give it a watch. It's just not what this guy is making it out to be is all.

Your points above are true. With the possible exception that some of it was over the top. Like the way her "accident" happened, and not DQing the one who did it (and well before the final foul), that whole scenario was a bit off.

I actually forgot that one when I posted the thread. I own the DVD and think it is great on many levels. Like I wrote, I knew it would get the AA when I saw the Mo Cuishle ending.

And it is a non-bio film, so I did not say or mean to imply that our faves had to be based on a real person.

Bro, I've probably been a fan of PBF a lot longer than you. No offence.

Ofc I've seen it. I've had it burned to DVD for years.

I know you're just on the wind-up, though.

FWIW, "The Set-UP" which was probably not seen by many here(?) was a fine movie.
About fixing a fight (or trying to) if I recall correctly.

I can heartily recommend that one too.
