I see Canelo like he has a lot to learn yet, He does have a lot of Defensive Flaws, and his Chin is a bit suspect just based on the Cotto Fight, Only time will tell . But if you ask me and this is coming from a Mexican is that they are giving him too much hype earlier on, Televisa is not good for him or for any type of boxer, its one of the leading Mexican Networks in the Country and they make it out like he was Rocky and do these Cheesy Promotions on Canelo like if he was Chavez, I think its too much to compare him like Chavez or Sanchez no way, The kid hasn't proved anything. I want him to face a fighter that can take his punches and will stand toe to toe when they trade, Then we will see how much of a good fighter he is.

I think Canelo has better boxing skills than Lopez.

Let's not forget he was only a teenager last year.

You are comparing a guy who is closer to 30 than 20, to a kid who is 20 years old, not even legally a man yet, and has showed he has poise beyond his years.

Ryan Rhodes is a legit top 5 154 pounder[#4 in The Ring], if Canelo can beat him, then it's time to take Canelo more seriously. He still has some questions to answer, then again you are asking too much from a kid. At 20 years old, other boxers are fighting guys with losing records, or losing streaks. Jose Cotto, Baldomir, NDou, Matt Hatton, especially Ryan Rhodes are guys you don't feed a 20 year old. Canelo can easily be padding his record up fighting soft touches for as long as the next 5 years if he or his promoter wants to. Choosing to fight the guys he's fighting at this age, already says a lot about the competition he will be fighting in the coming years.

Conclusion, they are not comparable. Canelo has showed more boxing ability and defense than Lopez has, and at a younger age too.

Onlyyyyyyyyyy he's RIPPED to shreds over 160lbs?!

Seemingly lost no speed... basically got bigger stronger and faster, and his stamina was even better than before.
well he was a top rank fighter.

apparently that means he's on peds now.

you know because 5 top rank fighters all tested for peds....... marijuana.

the ginger's power is overrated. IMHO cotto stops matt hatton at 154 lbs.

                  It's arguable.

However I probably agree with you on that particular match-up.

These are exactly the type of low risk name opponents you feed a fighter who has questions. He is young and has room to improve but from what i have seen so far he is very overhyped and will be upset when he fights a big puncher around his size.
