no.....if he retires right now , he'd be broke....if he's broke he'd rob a bank again.....thats not good....fight some more and be frugal, thats the best gameplan for kirky....
Retirement is the best solution for James Kirkland

Why would James Kirkland retire? He lost 1 fight, wtf? It's just one fight and it's not like that loss took a lot out of him. He walked into like 3 punches by someone who can't hit hard. His career is far from over.Comment

Maybe that's all you'll ever remember him for. But the fact of the matter is that he's still young enough to avenge this loss and potentially do some decent things.
This could also linger around, but if he's able to unify and dominate the Jr. Middleweight division, I think most will not worry about the loss as Middleweight. It's not that big of a deal. These things happen.
If he avenges the loss and wins some big fights, most people will remember the good and not the bad when all is said and done. Joe Louis isn't remembered for losing to Max Schmeling. He's remembered for avenging the loss.
This is boxing. Things happen. If he can't rebound, then he should retire. But we should find out if he can bounce back first.Comment

if he gets kayod again in a rematch he'll almost ceratainly amount to nothing over the course of a losing career with low pay

I don't think he's very good at world class. Never did. Will be fun to watch Ishida kick his ass again.Comment
